Too heavy on here at the minute - so let's get back to football :) What has been your favourite world cup? First one I really remember was Argentina in 78 - it was an amazing spectacle with all the ticker tape etc - remember Scotland having a mare despite that goal from Archie! e emotion

Best one for me has to be Italia 90 - started slowly but warmed up nicely for England - still remember that semi as if it was yesterday - the raw emotion was incredible and the world cup song wasn't too bad :)

82 is probably my favourite. 90 got going eventually. 98 wasn't a bad un either. I just remember the 78, the ticker tape stands out vividly.

1970 in Mexico. The best team I've ever seen won it (Brazil) and had the best player I've ever seen in their line-up (Pele). Also, all the other teams who progressed beyond the Group stages were exceptionally talented, in my opinion, and entertaining to watch.

First one I remember vividly was 74 I was 12, 70 was funny kick off times although I love watching the films of it...In 74 it seemed to rain all through the tournament....78 was cool although argentina needing to beat Peru by so many goals to go through and winning 6-0 was a bit Shady...loved watching Kempes and Luque(Spelling). Gemmills goal!... in 82 England crashing out without losing a game....86....MARABASTERDDONNA!.......90 we didn't play well at all until the semi when we gave as good as we got against the Germans...Gazza.....94..Cmon the Irish...Baggio's penalty...98 Simeone!..glad Atletico lost the other day.....02...Ronaldinho-Seaman...06...Rooney off-Winker Ronaldo...12..******* *****.....

My favourite is probably 90 because we were so close....This year eh guys..

1990 was awesome - and everything since has been an anticlimax despite us baving some very promising individuals. I haven't really seen a cohesive England side in a tournament aside from 1990 and the euros in 1996 (which we should've won).

The wilderness years of Graham Taylor were horrific.

The South Africa world cup in 2010 was deathly boring in my opinion.

In 1990 we were very average until the semi final.

Scraped a draw with the Irish, same again with the Dutch...both games totally forgetful....won 1-0 v Egypt ,again average.

We were then totally outplayed by Belgium only for David Platts great goal in the 119th minute to put us through

Then came Cameroon and only 2 dubious Lineker penalties won it for us 3-2 after been 2-1 down.

In the semi we played really well, as did the Germans...I still think we would have won if Gazza hadn't got that booking.....

By the way I'd take the same scenario this time if it meant we got to the semi...my post is just pointing out that we weren't as good as one might think in 1990.

1950 for me. I remember saying to a bloke in the pub that it was embarrassing that we had lost to the USA. He said summat like "why don't you go and support Uruguay you negative ******". I reminded him of this conversation sixteen tears later.

I remember how tight group was with us Ireland and Holland. The Cameroon game was superb - albeit we were lucky as hell. Very entertaining. We were better than Germany on the night but it wasn't our night - Waddle hit the bar from an outrageous distance and the inside of the post late on. The German free kick was a farce, and Peter Shilton looked like an old man that night. We were one decent goalie away from the world cup final. We had no chance in a penalty shoot out.

There were so many good sides in that tournament too. Germany, italy, Argentina, Cameroon, were all eye catching. Some very entertaining games.

    Easy -1966

Before that I wasn't interested in football. The England win made me love the game.

Mexico 70, the first one I remember.
Italy 90 came close. The Typical Germans did us on both occasions.

The first World Cup that I have any memories of is Italia '90 (and I can't remember much of it), but my favourite World Cup has got to be France '98. Some great players and great goals, exciting games and a new winner - what's not to like?

This goal by Sunday Oliseh (I was in the Nigeria bandwagon in the '98 World Cup), a 3-2 winning goal against Spain, is probably my favourite World Cup memory of all time:

My least favourite World Cup might be South Africa 2010. Most of the results didn't really go my way at all, I can't even remember that many memorable moments of it, the final was a snoozefest and the most boring team in the tournament won... oh, and those damn vuvuzelas. :)
