Always had in my head that COG would be number 1 in departure lounge, Crainie, Steele and Jenno make up the 4.

The Sheff Utd rumour was laughable, always felt the lower reaches of the Championship would be his destination, can't knock Charlton for approaching, top goal scorer in bottom half, key goals in survival last term.

I think 500k is cheeky, but equally what we would do. I think probs with COG is how he is viewed, big, bulky target man with an eye for a goal. Unfortunately that never seems to get valued in same category as lightening quick, slim and with an eye for a goal.

I'd base my value on the Grabban fee and the reportedly quoted value of the Coventry lad, Wilson is it?

For me two seasons in a poor side scoring close to 30 goals commands 750 - 1m I think we all agree on that at least. Problem is we need to make some money and reduce wages. Not in ****, just need a bit of balancing.

I never expected COG to be in line up come August. If it frees up wages and gives some transfer money then so be it.

The main point of this is COG probably always wanted an opportunity to play in Championship again should chance occur, it has, and he should do what he feels best and if goes, with out blessing and good luck.

I suspect at least Crainie and maybe one more of 4 will go, again no surprises if that happens. Wage bill reduced, funds in bank.

Re: 3 that may have / may not rejected contracts. Having watched some dreadful performances at times, abject at other times, decent now and again. I'm not fussed either way by their decisions, I'm actually leaning more towards a clean sweep anyway.

Chins up boys and girls, long summer ahead

my take is this, who's going to take a chance with Jonah Crainie 2 relegations in 3 seasons is it?

If we were going to lose any of 'The 4' I'd rather it be Crainie.

We'd find it hard to replace O'Grady, Steele and Jennings.

Like the OP I've always expected OGrady to go - just a bit disappointed with the alleged fee if its correct

I also expect Cranie to go if anyone will have him - not too fussed either way on him to be honest if he stays fine but I think big Jean and Nyatanga are good enough for league 1

The one I am desperate to keep in Jennings - he was MK Dons best player in this league when we loaned him and I think he will be far too much for most league 1 defences also he hasnt done enough yet to attract silly money so no one is going to come in and offer us £1million for him - 2 years left on his contract so no need to even think about selling

I expect Steele will stay and hope he does

Unlike others, I really rate both O'Grady and Cranie. Unfortunately, I think both will move on this Summer. Like you, Dave, I think Steele will stay and hope Jennings likewise.

Regardless of the amount, my worry on any fee is always whether or not we can replace them with better for the same money. If we can't, surely it's a bad move?

We don't need to sell Jennings - his stock will only go up.

If he has a blinding start to the season I can see the offers coming in in January though.

Steele we definitely need to keep in my opinion & Cranie if wage structure allows.

Agree with you mate. Really hope Cranie goes because he's not good enough to waste his wage on in that league unlike the others. Jennings could be crucial for us next year.

According to yesterday's Yorkshire Evening Post, several Championship clubs are interested in O'Grady, so a bidding war should guarantee at least 750k. Think we'll accept any bid for Cranie, just to free up wages.

Hold all the cards with Jennings, if he's happy to stay keep him and hope he kicks on next season.

Steele, only Donny showed any interest last summer when he was available for nowt, don't expect a fee but we need to free up his wage also.

If he goes we better be bringing someone in because I don't rate M'Voto enough to be a regular for us even at League 1 level. The other day within a random article the Huddersfield Examiner had one sentence saying us and PNE want Peter Clarke. Yesterday though they had a full article about how Fleetwood Town now apparently want him. Clarke/Cranie with Nyatanga as back up with Big Jean let go would do for me.

Agree re. Cranie. Weren't knocking his ability, but the wage thing could be an issue in keeping him.

Best mate's an Udder's fan...dissolves into helpless laughter when I ask him about Clarke...Draw your own conclusion.

All about opinions. I've spoke to plenty of Huddersfield fans and nobody has knocked him apart from saying he's not championship quality anymore. Said he can do a job for any league one side with his experience and passion.

The freeing up someone's wage thing. If they are under contract already then they are outside the cap. If we sell them and buy someone else in they are counted towards the cap. So would actually be a negative unless we get a transfer fee which is more than the wages of the incoming player.

They might be outside the cap but if we can't afford the players wage it doesn't matter.

I agree but that doesn't free money up for anyone else you then gave to pay the wages of another striker from the piss poor pot you have.
