Ha ha ha could have done this in February and left May & June for getting new players in instead of using their time on young lads we already have at the club, everything's arse about tit

I'm sure it didn't take that long to get a youngster already here to sign. They can't do anything more now until players decide what they want to do, it's not like they were spending time doing this instead of something else. They've done what they can, they (and you) need to be patient and wait.

Edit: Their contract probably runs out on the 1st of June, which is why they are doing now. In February we might not have seen enough to know if we wanted them. Also, if we'd have stayed in the Championship we might not have needed them.

3 names as been knocking back of net out all season, if we've had to wait until now to decide to sign him up, then clubs worse state then I thought it was. According to you the club and others on here signing players takes time and we have to wait, yet now we've not been using valuable time signing players we could signed months ago because it don't take long. Every club that's at the front of the betting to be in the shake up at the business end of the season, all have the jump on us already due to having players contacted to the club and settled already, we're going to be lagging behind from the off if we don't get things moving quickly.

I think there's a big difference between players that are established professionals waiting to see if they can get a Championship club/better wages, and kids that are already here. We couldn't sign them in February like you said incase we stayed up, and then they wouldn't have gotten a chance. Maybe we've spent the last month 'throwing our hand in the ring' for other players, and now that we can't do anything other than wait, we are getting the young ones signed up in the lull.

Exactly JD, it's a waiting game, and I think some deals may already be almost done and the player is seeing if a better offer comes along.
I think the young uns are going to get some game time this coming season.

We're lagging behind, other squads are 60 % sorted and we're messing about instead of getting it done now,

The Maris and Nana deals were agreed last season. They agreed to signing a pro contract when the time came. That time has come, now they're old enough. I think the lad Bree agreed a similar deal that will see him sign as a pro once the time comes. Same that happened with Butterfield, Stones, Noble-Lazarus etc in the past. They can't sign a pro deal until their age allows it. But they can agree to do so, before that. So all in all, today is merely confirmation of them becoming professionals at Barnsley FC.

But you crack on, whingeing all afternoon again. It's amusing if nothing else.

Just a thought though, were Danny to unveil a 'proper' new signing tomorrow, chances are it'd be someone you think is **** anyway, giving you more reason to whinge.

    Great news though.

I see our bench next season made up of the likes of Nana, Maris, Smith, Cowgill, Bree etc. We'll not be carrying a Flicker-esque gargantuan squad in League One. I'd expect your older 'kids' in Digby, RNL and Rose to be first teamers, at least from the get go, and of course the seniors who decide to stick around. Then I'm sure we'll have a number of incoming players who will be regular starters, some who may start out as substitutes, and perhaps one or two extra youths to supplement the squad.

All this is mere conjecture though. For all I know we're planning to start with the youth kids and signing nobody. Doubtful though. Even less likely is Danny recruiting 20 new players of veteran age, condemning all the kids to yet another year of 21's football.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Im glad they didnt. Reading the interviews with them this is giving them motivation to look at getting into the first team just at the right time. They'll come into pre-season training with points to prove.

One signing not going to cut the mustard at this late stage it needs to be 5/6/7 all at the same time

Late stage? We're in ******* May, mate. The players don't start pre season training until the beginning of July. Why are you so desperate for us to recruit 5/6/7 players right now?

Ahh so the logic continues..... We haven't yet, so therefore we aren't at all.

I haven't been for a cr@p today.... So by the same logic, I won't be having one at all!

    Genius!
