http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/queens-new-carriage-made-isaac-3641958 Nice to see the Queen gets a nice shiny new carriage to travel to parliament in
I presume UKIP would abolish the monarchy, what with them being so concerned with non-democratic bodies
She's the Queen, of course she should get a carriage (which is apparently only the second one in 100 years). In just over a year she will be our longest serving monarch ever.
22% pay rise for Queenie while the rest of us have cuts, freezes and 'real terms' reductions in our quality of living. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...und-is-reduced-to-last-1-million-8874123.html Thankfully the Conservatives have declared that the cost of living crisis has been solved. It certainly seems to have been solved for 'her majesty'. Btw over 20,000 pensioners died in fuel poverty last winter.
As a direct result or would many of them have died anyway? There are a lot of families of working age that struggle to pay their bills and worry about putting the heating on.

I couldn't tell you to be honest, but I can't imagine that fuel poverty helped them through the winter. Fuel poverty for anyone in a country as wealthy as ours is a dreadful thing.
I totally agree, I just wish there was more help for young families and the working poor - a demographic that seem to be overlooked.
How many people visit the Palace of Versaille. How many people would queue to visit Buckingham palace if it was open to tourists full time? Does anyone buy the royalist BS that people either A) sit down and choose Britain for a holiday because of Queen Elizabeth II OR B) decide to give contracts to the UK because we have a monarchy? It's *****. Would tourism or our balance of payments be affected by the UK becoming a republic? I doubt it. She's just an ordinary woman, flesh and blood, like anyone else. Anyone who sees anything else is being blinded by what the Royal Family want them to see. She is the Chief Executive of a family firm, and she hasn't always been a good one. Right now people are misty eyed about her, but when 'Princess' Diana died, Windsor Castle caught fire, and her Majesty told us what a hard time she'd been having (in latin) - people weren't so fond of her. For me, herself and her racist husband could retire tomorrow and leave the state as a Republic, and I'd have a hard time worrying about how much money she makes for us all.
The monarchy is safe in her hands, while ever she is alive and on the throne we will never consider ditching her, monarchies usually hit trouble when a popular monarch (and to be fair she is highly regarded by most of the population) is replaced by a much less popular and devisive heir. when Charles and his queen take the reigns, I cant see such as Australia (and others) wanting them as their head of state, he really is a knob ! The rot will set in .
