That's what we had in 1966, and every World Cup up until what 1990? or was is Euro 96 when we started using the flag of St George.
Agree. The flag of England is the cross of S. George. Does the Stars and Stripes or the Tricolour have USA and France emblazoned across them? No.
A flag is a symbol for that country. It identifies the country without words. That's the whole point of a flag. It's like writing "No entry" all over a No entry sign.
It's tacky but most football related merchandise is. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you can buy the flag of any country at the World Cup with the name emblazoned across it.
Of course it is but most merchandise that is intended to encourage national fervour tends to be tacky and not just in this country.
True but I've really only noticed it on the flag of St George but maybe I just haven't been paying attention. Tacky merchandise could be a good thread.
Good point. I think "Hideous flag watch" could be an interesting aside this summer. BTW I have no problem with England flags with names of towns / pubs on. It's just a St George's Cross with "England" across...... YES, we already know!
Not a flag but how's this for *****? http://www.capitalxtra.com/news/england-world-cup-2014-playlist/
When I realised it was a Capital FM thin I switched off. But it has given me an idea. Capital and Sports Direct could merge and take over the (chav) world??
