Had to do a drop off in Stannington and a bloke answers the door and gets on about football claiming 'if Wednesday don't get the play offs at least next season then it will be a disaster for Yorkshire' he also went on to say how it's such a shame to see them having to play teams like Barnsley and Doncaster for the last few years. When I told him I was a barnsley fan he then said 'see at the mecca we should have been welcoming the likes of Chelsea not barnsley'.... At this point I had to laugh! I just couldn't help myself! He didn't seem too impressed when I told him to wake up! What an embarrassment that lot are, what is with the 'we deserve champions league' attitude they all have? It baffles me.
That's why I'm happy for them. They've got what they wanted now. No excuses. Just watch them implode next season when **** all positive comes of it. I'll enjoy the ride more than they will. Just imagine, we could be swapping divisions with em next year. Stranger things and all that...
They've won one trophy since the 1930s - the same as Wigan, less than Portsmouth, less than Leicester, the same as Middlesbrough. So they can crack on thinking that they're Real Madrid, like, even with the above in mind.
If they hadn't taken Connor Wickham and Matty Fryatt on loan last season they would have either been going down with us or instead of us
It's only same with us just imagine a Wednesday fan speaking to troutman on a Monday morning after we've had a good win, they'll have us all down as miserable pathetic B'astards on suicide watch.
No where near as bad as thee, not very often do I single out players or the manager unlike thee and never after a win you're only bloke I know who looks for negatives after a victory . I know it's bound to be doom and gloom on here after the last 8 years we've had but fecking hell you take it to a completely new level, and so I used you as a example but Wednesday fans will have us down as proper miserable b'astards
The only thing between Barnsley (or anyone else) from winning the Champions league inside five years is money. It's a sad state of affairs. You get one Russian oligarch and it doesn't matter who you are.
they think they are a country alone so Euros for them, so more like playing against Germany and Spain
At the moment, most fans are secretly hoping their clubs are taken over by some rich Sheik or someone with more money than sense to get some success - as that seems to be the defining factor. No club has a divine right to be in any division, history is history. We've been in the second tier for most of our history but that means nothing, yo-yoing between the 2nd and 3rd is probably the best we can hope for at the minute as we are scratching around with a clutch of clubs who are relying on their attendances only for money. If more and more clubs continue to be taken over with big investment then unfortunately that would see confined to the third tier at best. FFP was supposed to put an end to the culture of owners not really giving a sh*t how much they spent and how much debt they put a club into, but as we've seen it's a completely futile directive with more loopholes than a Christmas jumper.
spoke to a young lad in Sheffield Costco today,he's an owl and is chuffed someone has taken them over,he also said he wished someone would take us over so we stand a chance of moving forwards, they arnt all toss pots at Hillsborough, though, admittedly after reading owlstalk they do seem to have more than their fair share
