My definition of insanity is using that bloody quote when it doesn't apply. For a start, Albert Einstein didn't even say it.

In the past we have signed players at various stages during the summer transfer window in order to bolster our squad for the forthcoming season. What would you like us to do differently this summer, not sign any players?

Spend money on the better players now, stop saving some for the new manager we get in December to spend in January on 4 or 5 loan players, take the risk now, you never know come December we might not need a new manager if we back the one we have now, by giving him the full budget to spend instead of scrimping try to save a few quid

More important things to spend my money on, especially when we are showing no signs of improvement on or off the field.

And how do you know that's not exactly what we're doing? You seem to be confusing your opinion with fact.

None of us actually know, and for one, i'm absolutely fine with that. What i do know, is whoever the club do bring in, it has to fit in with our budget and the players should be encouraged and supported, patience from the fans is needed more than ever.

Oakwell used to be a difficult place to visit, in more recent times, it's harder to be a Barnsley player than a visitor.

Has anyone actually signed on the dotted line for anyone yet?
I know Chelsea have signed that Spaniard but haven't heard of any other transfer completed.
Can't remember reading about anyone signing for Sheffield United, Rotherham, Wednesday, Leeds, Donny, Bradford, Huddersfield and so on.
I wonder if their boards are going into meltdown like this one?

Rotherham & Sheffield united have signed 3&4 players

As I've said time and time again I've seen what's happened in the resent past and this summer is shaping up no different

Come on Jay thats like taking yer ball home, "yer either play with my ball or i am taking it home" :)
The reason people are moaning the way they are is because at the end of the season the shutters come down at oakwell. Any connection with the supporters seems to be severed. People have a need to know the regular goings on at the club and with todays social networking sites, twitter etc people are seeing it all happening at other clubs. and nowt regarding us. It would be nice if the club would quash any of the rumours that get the supporters uptight. As always seems we have to wait for the other clubs to make denial statements.
To answer your question Jay i have been around long enough to think the way of change would be a bit more than buying players or not buying players. :)

Not quite panic stations, but not is there any reason to be confident. If we go into pre-season still lacking half a squad then I will be very concerned.

Well we went into last pre-season with a bulging squad, and all the manager's signings in early.

    That went well.

    agree with you here, Flash

I will begin to worry when the players show up for training, if the squad is as thin as it is now.

I understand that things are quiet at Oakwell, but they're quiet at the majority of clubs. Players are on holiday, agents are on holiday, managers are on holiday and we're just about to start the world cup. Transfers are not at the top of the agenda right now. You might think they should be, but they're not. When the world cup starts winding down and as nations return home after being eliminated, when contracts are completed at the end of June and when pre-season training begins in the first week in July the transfer market will start in earnest.

At that point, we may find that some players have already committed themselves to our club. We do our transfer activity on the quiet, it stops other clubs from stealing the players we are after from under our noses, but to say the shutters have come down and connections with the supports have been severed simply isn't true. Both Danny Wilson and Ben Mansford have given long interviews in the closed season. Ben was on Radio Sheffield for an hour answering questions only a couple of weeks ago. They've told us how they will approach the transfer window, they've told us their ambitions for the club, they've kept us informed, we've now got to let them get on with it. Do we need them to do the same interview every week? Every day? Are we children? Or can they tell us once and then we leave them to do their job?

People are saying the club aren't doing this, aren't doing that, but they've absolutely no idea. Their insecurities are being portrayed as facts. Danny and Ben have told us what they're going to do, let them do it.

Those clubs don't have 15-20 players to bring in though preferably for pre season training in three weeks time so they aren't playing catch up by signing after the threadbare squad come back.
