What about Joe Hart? Plays for the champions though so can get away with performances like that all the time for his country. Fumbled a straight forward shot, let in a weak first goal, conceeded a 2nd in his own six yard box stuck to his line leaving it to others, charged off his line only to hesistate but luckily his defender bailed him out on the line. A few other things too but those were the main ones. Gotta buck up his ideas for our next match.
Agree about Johnson but Rooney should not be played out wide, through the middle and He'll score goals.
I was just about to start a thread on this very subject Conan....Rooney gets battered annd always seems to carry the can but Gerrard gets off scott free, trying to hit the 50 yard hollywood passes all the time.
Each to their own mate but I'm not a massive Rooney fan at all. He tries taking center stage every game by shooting when there's a much better option at either side of him. Last night for example, barclays in a great position and was looking lively and Rooney snatches the ball off him and fire well over. I don't think sturridge and Rooney could both be upfront in a game because it leaves us so open in the midfield then, and if it was a choice between starting Rooney or Sturridge there's only one winner for me.
Sturridge would be better running from deep or wide, he's naturally left footed anyway, Rooney is a better player with his back to goal than Sturridge, also Rooneys goal/assists-games ratio was better than Sturridge's last season, playing in a much poorer side...I'm not knocking Sturridge helikes to roam from side to side if you notice, thats why I'd have Rooney up front.
