    The 'All Blacks' then. Perhaps the famous Jock regiment the Black watch should change too. Maybe the lovely seaside resort known as Blackpool oughta rethink too. A remake of the "Dam Busters " movie too .. but we would have to remove Guy Gibsons dog, as his name was a racist name allegedly....Honestly these PC lot boil my blood at times.

    That's what I thought until I watched it and then I thought, actually, he might have a point. It's certainly not as cut and dried as what I thought before I watched it.

    It's not an issue we have over here because we didn't have an indigenous population with a different skin colour who were marginalised and exterminated. We've been invaded dozens of times, but it's always been different white tribes feighting. I think it's hard for us to relate to.

    Different altogether though isn't it. The All Blacks refers to the colour of their strip, nothing to do with skin colour. The same can be said of the other things with 'black' in them. There's nothing racist about the word black. The name of Guy Gisbon's dog is unfortunate, but it's a historical fact. If he was alive today I very much doubt he'd name his dog that, or if he did there would be pressure on him to change it, it's an offensive word. But if you make a film about it, that was the dogs name.

    There's nothing racist about the word red either, but The Washington Red Skins are referring to Native Americans. Apparently they don't like the term, they find it offensive. It's not the PC brigade who are pushing this, it's the very people that the Red Skins refers to. Other Americans have listened to their argument, agreed with them and are helping publicise the cause.

    Can I just say... IF the Native Americans are at the forefront of the campaign to change the name and are 'leading the charge' then I support it 100%.

    n the other hand.....If it is being driven by the White liberal PC brigade then absolutely NOT!!

    No one can deny the huge wrong done to them and still ongoing (like the aboriginal peoples of Australia) and the genocides but a 'token' gesture of a name change is not going to change anything materially and is a distraction from more pressing issues like land ownership, education funding, healthcare etc. 200+ years of abuse is not going to swept away overnight and racism is only racism if it is intentional. Why has 'redskin' become such an offensive term (unlike 'white Caucasian' .... 'Savages' would be highly offensive I agree (especially as I consider in general)) the tribes of the North American continent had a deep respect and understanding of nature and sustainability).

    Think that's just ******** for the tourists, the Indian or Native American tribes were attacking and massacring each other long before the Europeans arrived, they're also not the original inhabitants, they wiped those people out.

    And then the Europeans wiped a lot of them out.

    They're no better than anyone else, or any more in touch with nature or noble or mystical or any of that crap.

    Having heard quite a lot about this I think they should. Redskin is an offensive term to the native population, it would be akin to having a team called Carolina ******s. (N word, it got censored!)
    It's a little different to teams such as Atlanta Braves and Chicago Blackhawks.
    The Washington Bullets basketball team changed their name to Washington Wizards due to the high instance of gun related homicides in the city.
