about one of the Nigerian players, who he had at Celtic. "he hasn't got the quality to cross the ball" Call me fussy, but I'd expect every international footballer / professional footballer to have the quality to cross the ball. I expect them to be able to put it exactly where they want to, with them training day in, day out.
Its quite alarming how often you see highly paid professional players at the top of their profession not getting the basics right.
Too much emphasis on physical attributes (speed, strength and stamina) and not enough on actually being able to play ******* football.
I dont but I still expect a professional footballer to be able to cross the ball most of the time - the fact I am often disappointed still doesnt change the expectation. And thats just in a 3rd division football league side -surely someone playing in a world cup finals ought to be expected to be able to do that. I was nowhere near good enough to be a professional footballer but I could still cross a ball and with either foot - had to practice a bit to get the hang of it with my left foot but was still able to do it when I stopped playing regularly at 40 years old
