Just an idea I have been thinking about.. My idea revolves around looking for a young player with bags of potential who realistically at this stage of his career could be snapped up for say the 900k mark with 100k for salary (approx 2k per week). Obviously these figures can be adjusted either way or indeed the initial funding value could be amended to suit. So as an example if Mr Cryne committed to putting £500K in place for such a scheme who would go for something like I have set out below ? Could be the start of a new way of funding players.. much like a racing syndicate..

Everything would have to be worked out legally and I would say, any decision to sell would need a simple majority vote (maybe an online vote), along with the club having their casting vote being the majority shareholder. I would also give the club 100% power on the actual player purchase, after all they are supposed to be the experts!

    Shares
    Club £500,000 (50% shareholding)

Fan Fund £500,000 (50% shareholding split between 4000 fan shares at £125 each).

If player develops and club receives a bid of :- £2,000,000

    Returns are split as follows..

    Percentage £
    Club 40% £800,000
    Fan shares 40% £800,000

    Future pot 20% £400,000

Fan Fund paid out as:- £200.00 per share

Would represent a return on investment of :- 60.00%

Then undecided on what could happen to the future pot. This could be used towards another player as a 50/50 split between club and fans fund or some deduction to assist with the players wages. Ok it is a risk and potentially you could lose your full share if for some reason the player had to leave for nowt, like any investment there is a big risk. If something came of it though where else could you get such a return on your investment based on my potential estimate? It also removes some of the financial risk to the club by offering such a scheme..

I would be willing to put £125 in for certain, the more flush amongst fans, nothing to stop them buying multiple shares.. Could it happen ? I have emailed Mr Mansford, just wondered what people thought of the idea..

3rd party ownership not permitted in England.

Well, just give the club 100% decision making on the player sale then.

In terms of the finance, I'm sure if it goes into some sort of trust there are ways of making it work legally without it being perceived as 3rd part ownership...

Ie allocating a 0.001% share in the club to the fans fund.. No longer 3rd party ownership!

I know for a fact that the Wendies had something called 'Squadbuilder' in the not-too-distant past.

I'm unsure whether the money generated by it was understood to be a donation or an investment, though.
