12 noon start, 13 venues, 100+ bands (70%+ from Barnsley), free entry, U18 allowed into venues before 6pm. Sack the world cup off, cheer yourselves up and support this event. If you are in Funky Buddha around 7pm, say hello to the guy in the red 'Orgreave Truth and Justice' t-shirt......but wait until after his set. You reds.
on the subject of live music i would give this a go too, two skies are worth going along for on there own http://www.coalfieldsfestival.co.uk/coalfields-2014/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewhjOSVZ8Kg
"Orgreave", "Coalfields", Barnsley will never get anywhere if people don't stop living in the past, it's no wonder the rest of the country thinks we're backwards.
****ing hell the local MP is playing, might turn up with some rotten tomatoes. And he's the only one I've heard of, where are: Exit Calm Saxon Kate Rusby The Danse Society Party Day Barnsley acts that we've actually heard of.
Apparently The Black Lamps have members of The Danse Society and Party Day in their ranks so they may be worth seeing.
There's a difference between living in the past and respecting your heritage. Maybe this event just isn't for you.
I agree with you to an extent in that as a town we still blame thatcher(ism) for a number of current problems even though the blame could be laid at others doors. However, the day I decide that I should stop wanting the truth to come out regarding a number of notable instances of the strike will be the day my arse hole heals up.
I live 5 mins walk from the town centre and I don't know where half of those venues are! ("Attached to the other half of the venue" I hear you say! )
