Just returned from the lovely village of Lindos in Rhodes. It's the 5th time we've been and I can't see us getting bored of the place. Got married at St Paul's bay 5 year ago so we tend to go back for our anniversary. Lindos itself is a very traditional greek village packed with roof top tavernas and great food. It's a 1hour transfer from the airport which isn't too bad. If your after a relaxing break with great food, good views and plenty of sun (39* around the pool on Tuesday) then give Lindos a try!!! Brought to you by the original Judith Charmers.......#wishyouwerehere
Cheers, we were going to try it this year after a lovely time in Corfu last year. Toss up between Rhodes and Crete - Crete won. Appreciate the comments though, they will be saved til next year
I went to Faliraki in 92 and visited friends in Lindos, seemed a lovely place. It's the hottest place on the island, sumert to do with the breezes, a local told us and we genuinely thought you could feel it get hotter as we neared Lindos on the motorbikes.
It's Judith Chalmers. Get it right. Lindos was quite good 25 years ago but I'm afraid it's been hijacked by the English Pubs and the football shirt culture.
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. I visited Lindos ffor the day in about 1998 and absolutely loved it. Stunning little town
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. Sounds like the sort of place we'd like. Being that Faliraki is on the same island though, what are the flights like - do you have to put up with loads of rowdy folks going to Faliraki?
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. love Rhodes, ex bro-in-law lives and owns a bar in kremasti, sorts me some cracking deals on digs and car hire
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. We've always gone with Thomson/first choice so they tend to be more family orientated but even in the airport I've never seen it rowdy. It's the sort of place where for the duration of your holiday you can proper chill and sit back and relax. When we chose the place to get married id never even been to Greece but it's quirkiness and character makes it a really good place. There's plenty of bars too but not where it's too loud to hear yourself think, just a good place to be.
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. Funnily enough, weve booked this morning to faliraki with family. Been a few years ago and not at all rowdy anymore but were nearer rhodes town end than the centre of faliraki. We went to lindos last time we went and it was lovely with cracking beach. Red hot though. We love greece, more welcoming than spanish we find.
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. Greeks are very friendly, everywhere we went they can't do enough for you and there brilliant with kids aswell
Re: It's Judith Chalmers. I'm flying out to Rhodes on Wednesday as my son is getting married in Lindos on the 30th June, been there once many years ago and really enjoyed it
been going to Lardos in spetember for last few years. Even more traditional greek village with a feww good bars and restaurants,5 minute bus ride or a good hike to a brill beach. The more you go back the welcome gets better.Nearly as good as Zante.
I went to Rhodes a couple of years back and absolutely loved it; I'd definitely go back again and would try Lindos. Going to Zante this year.
