we're eliminated! Out!Did not qualify! That's why we have given up. Why not give some of the others a game. What do you think we should do?

Agree. Ben Foster would never play again for me. Selfish, shitty attitude.

Don't you remember? He got the monk on and "retired" from international football because he wasn't getting picked. Capello gets the elbow and suddenly he makes himself available. Not for me.

Almost certainly his last game - so giving him a chance to bow out with a game.

They want to be careful. If they treat it like a testimonial Costa Rica will show them how serious the game is. I really do hope we get a win.

Agree on foster, embarrassment to see him playing again and prime example of the sort of player who shouldn't be getting a sniff.
Cue further embarrassment tomorrow and a lack of respect for Italy and Uruguay in my mind by playing that team.
Imagine if a team got relegated and started playing the reserves in the prem with issues still to be sorted?

It's an embarrassment. Failed captain 'needs a holiday', so gets replaced with a squad player who has already thrown is hat in by retiring. Inspiring

I can imagine what would have been said had we kept the same team that lost to Italy and Uruguay:

"Lose both games and none of the useless gets have been dropped. It's not about the best players, it's about favourites. We should be using this match to blood some of the youngsters and give them some experience."

I can see the point in all the changes other than Lampard. It's like treating it as an international testimonial. Which is a bit offensive to those loyal/daft enough to spend a fortune going out there.

I don't think it's quite like that, even if there is an element of that to it. If Hodges didn't think Lampard was good enough, he wouldn't have taken him out there in the first place. He's in the squad on merit, he scored 8 goals last season which is on par with likes of Lallana, Sterling and Barkley. There are a lot of young lads playing this evening, it won't hurt to have an experienced head out there too.

    Put that light out!

It's still early and I don't get names right at the best of times. I can't imagine Warden Hodges would have done a worse job.
