Don't like it much do you? The other day someone told me to commit suicide and now someone wants to get his Muslim mates to beat me up, all because I said the Roma were causing problems in South Yorkshire, which has been well documented in the press (ironically enough it was Muslims in the programme on BBC2 who were threatening to attack the Roma because of those problems). Although it's shown some people in their true colours and also demonstrated the authoritarian nature of the left to great effect (disagree with me or I'll get a mob to attack you) I do think the Admin on here should at least make a statement about how free speech is allowed and threats are not.
You're entitled to your opinion as much as anybody else on here. I find that the biggest problem with 'political' posts is the same as I find in everyday life and that is there is culture prevalent amongst some on the left of people being entitled to an opinion as long as it is the same as theirs. It really annoys me when I see people being branded racist or homophobic just because they don’t share the view of the left. I must stress this isn't aimed at anybody in particular, I find there are some very good and articulate posters on here who you can have a good debate with but there are a minority who do spoil it.
Its strange because I find increasingly the polar opposite of this, that the right wing are intolerant of any view that is slightly different to their own and that when challenged the retort is that you are a loony lefty
two opposite ends of the spectrum, both with their own views. However, without doubt the left side get far better representation on programmes like QT,especially in the audience.
We have the rules that pretty much state that. I've not seen any threats, but then again there's an 8 hour time difference and I'm also currently working over time. If you think someone has said something that contravenes the rules, use the alert button. It's simple, really. Edit:
Course you've got free speech. Where has anyone censored you? But if you want to say something you need to be prepared to argue your point, and if you say something that is absurdly wrong then you are going to get taken to task on it. This thread being a prime example: http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showth...**its-a-king-**************************/page2
the thing I found ironically funny was the points the Asian residents were fetching up about the roma immigrants....... go back 30/40/50 years and it was the European residents raising the same points about the asian immigrants
Actually what I said was if you want to make overtly racist comments then you should have the balls to do it in front of the people you are saying it about rather than hiding on the internet. The offer is there. If you want to take it up. Have the courage of your convictions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
No they didn't, being I'm the one you claim said you should commit suicide and I said nothing of the sort (I was making a pedantic joke about a spelling mistake you made!), and the one you mention about getting his Muslim mates to beat you up was also nothing of the sort, hwhat he said was you could discuss your opinions with people face to face. Nobody has made threats against you.
Again if you have a right wing bias you would say that but from my stand point their is no left wing representation in the media . How many times have the BBC invited a Trades Union and Socialist Coalition representative to be on QT , never and only twice on the Politics Show . Basically the credible left don't get a chance to put their arguments across. The portrayal of Ed Miliband as Red Ed and some kind of old Labour revisionist is a case in point, it just shows how far right the media in this country is and more worrying how far right society has gone
Freedom of speech is interesting is someone exercising that by making racist comments on a forum that could potentially see them arrested if they made the same comments in the street. I don't think so myself. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I've had that discussion with the Asians at work. They are, lets say, 'uneasy' about the amount of foreigners moving here. As it happens, the Slovaks in particular, have moved into the Asian areas of Bradford, the Polish the White British areas. This has caused tensions between the Slovaks (most of them are Roma) and Asians. I did point out to the Asians I work with that this is perhaps very similar to the tensions some years ago when Asians moved into Bradford. And they agreed with me. They realise they can't get all holier than thou about it. However, it must be noted that the vast majority I work with (and some I now call friends) are British Asians, born here in the 80's. And it is that fact that gives me hope for integration and tolerance in the community. It'll come long after my time perhaps, but I've noticed that my generation who are Asian Brits are very much similar to myself or my White British friends. They play/watch football/cricket etc. They go to the cinema, play PS4, lots of them smoke, some even drink (they're not all devout Muslims). They refer to England/Britain as 'their' country. And Pakistan/India as the 'homeland'. They mix with White Brits, some even court White Brits. So it's my opinion that give it another couple of generations and tensions between people of different ethnicity will hopefully have disappeared. Right now though, you've White areas, and Asian areas here in Bradford. Very few do you see that are mixed. It's apparently due to the choices of the older generation of Asians (so I'm told). Just as I know it's the older generation of White Brits who aren't so keen on the Asians. But as I said, it'll hopefully alter with time. As for the Roma Slovaks or whatever, I have a few under me at work and they work hard, speak great English and certainly aren't a drain on this great country from what I've witnessed. Had a lovely chat during some downtime this morning (machine was kaput) with Marian, a Slovak fella who I've got a lot of time for. We discussed Gibraltar holding Slovakia to a 0-0 draw in their first ever game, and Dominica Cibulkova, a Slovak tennis player. They're just humans. And I'm broadening my own mindset and opinions spending time in the company of these people of varying ethnicity/religions. I'm not preaching or owt, and don't mind that others have opposing views. But I can only go on what I experience I'm afraid. I wish others would too, instead of reading the Daily Mail etc. Of course there are dodgy Roma Slovaks, and dodgy Asians over here. There'll be dodgy Poles, dodgy Jamaican's too. But there's more dodgy Brits, I would imagine. Based on sheer numbers. And that's what it comes down to for me. If there are cnuts, then fair enough. But why refer to whatever colour their skin is, or which country they've got down in their passport, or whatever faith they follow? When (for example) Jimmy Savile was exposed, the media/public didn't refer to him as "the White British Christian" did they? However, were an Asian Muslim to be exposed similarly, the 'Asian Muslim' bit would be headlined...
Freedom of speech is everything. However, that doesn't extend to threats, racist, sexist or nationalist abuse. I know you have your own agenda Gloria & most of us know what that is.
Why do you always - in a variety of arguments on here - refer to whatever side of the political spectrum you think your dissenters lean toward? I mean, is it not possible that folk can have an opinion on a subject that doesn't require them to first check the idealogies of the political party they vote?
You do understand that you don't have the freedom of speech to incite hatred through racism don't you. Some of the overtly racist comments you make on here would be reportable under the Racism and Religious Hatred Act 2006. I suspect if you I'd make them to some of my friends they would report you to the police. BTW the 2 chaps I had in mind for the chat are both lawyers one an immigration specialist. There weren't any racist comments, I just reported what was in the national press and what Clegg and Blunkett said, are you going to report them as well? I'd stop posting for a bit if I were you, you just keep showing yourself up.
I refer you to your "they" post racist in the extreme full of bile and viciousness. Do you want to share what happened to you did someone from another county nick your dinner money or summat? Now you know the bad Muslim lawyers won't beat you up do you want me to arrange that chat so you can express your Ragusa views to them? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
