Trev's done it before, old mate. Worn the stockings and suspenders I mean, not tried stopping me from getting to my food!
Not true. It's already been said that although we will look to add a couple more if possible, we'd be happy to start the season next Saturday. Lillis, Bennett, Lancashire, Eastham, Done. Lund, Hery, Allen Vincenti, Hogan, Henderson With enough cover all over the pitch to get through the opening month or two if necessary.
I'm relishing seeing Matty Done get torn a new arsehole by Jennings. Well when I say relishing, I mean I thought about it for five seconds...
He's proven himself in L1 already. Anyway, I wouldn't have posted that team if I didn't believe it was half decent, and if we were desperate for new players I'd have just said so. Maybe, just for once, it's worth forgetting Hill and accepting it was a reply to a post which mentioned that clubs don't have their teams sorted by now.
Thanks, but he played there with distinction for half a season after making his first start there v Leeds in the Cup. If I didn't think he was good enough to play there I wouldn't have posted a team with him in it....
Just joshing mate. Perhaps the lady does protest too much. Your team is actually completely unproven at League 1 level again as Is your manager (one swallow does not make a summer etc). I'm not saying that either aren't good enough but strengthening is probably essential. And Matty Done is just funny... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Reasonably fair comment although we've plenty of players in the squad who have played higher than L2. Don't get me wrong, I'd like a couple of new signings and you'll find I'd be the first to admit when we're desperately short of a player - but we're not. Really. Whether that will change after a few games, who knows, but I'm a lot more confident of the squad than when we went into L1 four years ago and ended up finishing 9th. Oh, and Jack Muldoon. You heard it here first.
I'm coming along to one of your pre season games so will have a look at Jack. is he the one who's been kicking round the non league scene? I'd say you will do reasonably well myself you have a couple of players with an eye for goal and and some pace. With your current squad I'd say an upper mid table finish should be achievable. I don't think your squad us complete or ready for that just yet. I mean at the minute have the best attacker in the division in COG, the best centre half in Cranie, the best winger in Jennings and the best keeper in Steele. But I don't think our squad is anywhere near complete. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Aye. He fits the sort of player we like to have in the side going forward. Bit of a gamble, but so was Hogan.
It's difficult to tell right now who and how we'll line up. But from tomorrow, Danny's plans will become clearer, day by day. He'll obviously have further additions to make, and that may well be influenced by how the current lads show up in training. But as already mentioned (sort of), in Steele, Cranie, Nyatanga, M'Voto, Kennedy, Jennings, COG, Noble-Lazarus, Hourihane, Hemmings and Rose we've the base for a decent squad already. Factor in the younger lads such as Smith, Bree, McHale, Abbott, Nana and Maris and who knows, maybe Danny'll not have to do much more business. Alternatively, he could have a look this week and think 'oh boy' and speed up his recruitment drive. Exciting times, in my opinion. On the subject of Rochdale, I feel they're well equipped squad wise to finish top ten at the least. They've experienced promotion together, retained everyone they wanted to, their manager - in my opinion - is a good one, and they've some very good players. The problem for them could well be their own success though. On their gates, they'll always be under pressure to sell. But Keith dealt with that in his last spell well enough, but I do see him going mental at some point this season. He's a great 'winner', Keith. It's pretty much all he's known at Spotland, achieving things relative to them and their expectations. But as we saw here on so many occasions, the man doesn't deal well with defeat and negative pressures. Again, exciting times. It'd take a nightmare start of epic proportions to dissuade me from my current belief that this is going to be a good season for us and for so many reasons. You Reds.
In League 1 I'd say yes. I think he has limitations in the Championship but will be head and shoulders above in League 1. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Prefer the pairing of M'Voto and Nyatanga myself. Cranie may well be the better centre half individually, but a centre half partnership is key and I think his propensity to go walkabout lets him down. I rate him, I'd be happy if he's picked, but I was more at ease with our defending when he wasn't a part of it. His display at Boro said it all. He's got this knack of not being in the right place at the right time, and Big John looks uneasy alongside him. Just my thoughts. I could be seeing it wrong. But at the end of the day, our centre halves are probably our strongest area. In this division. I think.
Maybe we could play all 3. Cranie as a sweeper or at RB. He's a good technical player, I reckon he'll stand out in any position this season. Agree we looked most solid with Nyatanga and big fvckin john at CB. Nyatanga had a few great games for us at back end. If we can get a decent RB in we look good in defence, need cover though.
