    GK - Plenty of cover for Steele
    CB - Three recognised players at CB. If Nyatanga has to be used as cover for Kennedy then id say we need one more. Patterson?
    LB - Nyatanga can cover for Kennedy. George Smith?
    RB - James Bree - might turn out to revelation, but either way we need more than just the one.
    RW - Cover needed for Jennings. McHale plays wide, Danny rates him, but little experience.
    CM - Cover needed for Digby & Hourihane. Brad Abbott?
    LW - Cover needed for RNL - Any youngsters?
    FW - Cover for O'Grady & Hemmings? Rose, Maris Nana, Oates all with something to prove.

    We need a right back, probably first choice. Our full backs have been awful for a very long time offering little going forward and being naive defensively... not a good blend. If Bree can then challenge for that spot, great. Ideally a left back and i'd love to free up Kennedy's wage but he probably knows he's got 12 mths at that wage before he takes a big cut so hardly likely to budge him.

    Centre halves, if Cranie stays, i'd be ok with him and Nyatanga as first choice with Cowgill as a challenge and M'Voto as the desperation last option. Midfield is very empty. A wide player to support RNL and Jennings and i think we could do with 2 more midfielders to supplement Digby and Hourihane who i'd expect to be first choice.

    Up front, i'm pretty happy with that. Obviously if/when O'Grady goes i'd expect a replacement but i think it's important we allow Rose to have a shot at breaking through and getting games.

    McHale plays wide left/right, and Maris often plays wide or off the frontman (Nana). Smith should be deputy for TK. I can't see us going into a season at this level with 16 year old Bree as our first choice right back. Expect a recruit there, unless we're putting Cranie in there who's never seen a full back.


    I'd suggest we need another striker, maybe two if COG goes.

    A first choice right back.

    At least one winger.

    And a couple of central midfielders to add to Hourihane, Digby and Abbott.



    But I'm not at Oakwell coaching the current lads. Danny'll know what's needed (or isn't).

    Only 18 months ago we had Stones & Golbourne so they weren't that bad! Though to be fair watching Wiseman & Kennedy since then had felt like forever
