Sorry to see him go but 3m could not be refused. I wish him well and I will keep an eye in his progress next season. The good news is united are now almost debt free. Hopefully the club can now move forward without unwanted interference from the banks. We have a good scouting system and a conveyer belt of young talent so maybe not too long until our next starlet comes through. The future is bright, the future is tangerine.
I saw a youtube video of him the other day and albeit in the SPL the lad looks a reight player. Like, proper world class talented already. Surprised a bigger club hasn't come in for him. But at least he's not signed by a Premier League club who leave him to rot in the reserves etc. But aye, he's some player. I've got him on FIFA on the playstation and he's like a slightly shitter version of Messi.
Talented lad probably impossible to hold on to. Hopefully you will get t invest a little of the money on developing your excellent youth policy.
Here is a picture of Ryan Gauld after signing a 5 year contract with Sporting yesterday. Pictured between photos of Figo and Ronaldo. Some company to live up to. I wish him well. We got 3m for him but immediately Ryan signed, Sporting put a 60m Euro buy out clause on him. So one minute he is worth 3 million then the next 60 million. When you read figures like that you realise that your club and mine are only making up the numbers when it comes to the big boys league. We just can't and will never be able to compete with those clubs. But no matter, I still love my little teams. United and Barnsley winning or doing well in their respective leagues means more to me than anything else. And when the occasional Cup final or good league challenge comes along I just love the ride. We live in hope not expectation and I for one would have it no other way. Bring on the new season. C'mon you Arabs and Tykes.
As I understand it the release fees in Portugal are based on a formula that looks at contract length, annual pay and various other little things - and it's set by a league rule to protect clubs.
£48m release clause. Ha ha. Until Lisbon realise they signed a Division 3 level winger, and ditch him after 12 months ;-)
Could happen I suppose but I'd think Sporting have done their homework. If it were to happen I'd hope they'd ditch him back to Tannadice. Sorry Tomfun but I'm no biting on the div 3 bit but good try.
