help needed. sons xbox 360 dvd/disk drive stopped working. I have an older xbox 360 that isn't used. Obviously my sons hard drive has all his game saves on. Is it as simple as attaching his hard drive onto my old xbox - will it access his gamesaves etc? If not, what else needs to be done? His profile isn't on my xbox and my xbox isn't connected to xbox live - will he still be able to access the hard drive Or is the hard drive linked to his xbox such that it wont work on mine without formatting?
You can buy a transfer cable to move information from one drive to the other. It's easy to do and saves the problem of maybe having to format the drive.
not really an option as the harddrive attached to the faulty consol ewith the games on is a 120GB but the hardrive attached to the working console is only 20GB (with 9GB used for system files etc) so transferring content not an option. Ideally just want to attach the 120GB from one console onto another - just wondered if it would work on the different console. I will try and get the faulty console repaired and reattach the 120GB drive back to it once fixed. But my son is too impatient to be without the console for all this time.
If its the exact same drive with the exact same serial number it should work otherwise unfortunatley it wont. When you say stopped working, is it ejecting and then not working or do you just have the rings of death, which is a very easy repair.
just doesn't read the game disk. you can hear it spinning but console doesn't read contents or give any warnings (tried with 6 different game disks). they are both the old style consoles with the detatchable hard drives on the end, so was hoping I could just swap the drive from the newer (old style elite) console to the old console (core) and it still access the data
