Apparently we, DUFC have put in a bid for him but it has been rejected. Clubs in talks. Any info about him lads would be much appreciated.
I've genuinely never heard of him, sorry. How good is Robertson? Seems to be attracting a lot of interest.
My sister in laws fella is a Stag and said he is really good, he a defender, a good one that just defends and always in the right positions. He is only a young lad originally from Italy. When i told him we were after him he told me he was gutted as Stags dont wanna lose him
Andy Robertson is good. In fact very good and we won't hold on to him but he will cost a fair bit for anyone to sign him.
i saw him at sixfields towards end of season and he played well, stags looked pretty decent at the back. finished 1-1 wen cobblers were fighting for there lives. ref sent off westlake and gave cobblers a pen, shocking decision. but enjoyed game Tafazolli was decent i thought, but it is league two. But players have to start somewhere
I'm sure we would help him improve. After all he would be coming to a club which has contested a UEFA cup final and appeared in a European cup semi final and also well respected throughout Europe.
Can't disagree there. Not qualified for a couple of years due to a new team being put together. I see no problems there as I'm sure our time in Europe will come again. Every team goes through these transitional periods.
Saw him once. He wasn't really tested defensively as it was a pretty dour game. His positional sense was good and he attacked with purpose. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I'm only winding you up Ian although I have said before that I am not too impressed by the overall standard of the SPL. Seriously though, there was a time when the top Scottish clubs were quite strong in Europe but these days they seem to struggle with anyone who's better than teams from Luxembourg or Malta. Some of the defeats that Scottish clubs have suffered have been very heavy against very average clubs - Hibs last season and Aberdeen's mauling by Sigma Olomouc. It's hard to believe you were once so good in Europe.
I totally agree although I was at Aberdeen last night for their Europa tie with some mob from Riga. An easy 5-0 win to take to Estonia next week. Bad news for us though. Stories doing the rounds here is that our full back Andy Robertson is to sign for hull. I hope not but we've been there before and we will survive. Winning the champions league will have to wait that wee bit longer. Tbh mate you were starting to get on my tits a wee bit. Glad i never fired off at you. Lol.
Now, now. You've got to expect a bit of criticism/honesty when you come on the message board of an English club.
Ha ha yeah i know but I never saw myself as saying anything detremental against anyone. So glad I bit my tongue. Lol BTW if you happen to hear anything regarding hull and andy robertson don't hesitate to let me know. Huge downer for me if he leaves.
Actually I was going to ask you - of that c.1983-7 team who is generally recognised as the best player and who was your favourite?
checked with wiki - why try watching him bit like ronnie glavin when he first played ...............its called reality.
Hard on to answer mate. The 83 league winning side was more a real team effort with everyone doing their bit. TBH we only ever used 14 players throughout that league campaign. Something you never hear of nowadays. The best players, and I hate to put one over the other, must have been Davie Narey, Paul Hegarty, Paul Sturrock, Eamon Bannon, Richard Gough and keeper Hamish McAlpine but other players like Billy Kirkwood, Ralphie Milne, Derek Stark and Davie Dodds all played their bit. Maybe Eamon Bannon was my favourite out of that lot. Great midfielder with a great football mind. The 87 UEFA cup final side included players like Maurice Malpas, Iain Ferguson and Ian Redford who passed away recently. Great memories but the way the game is going and the way the money is split I can't ever see those times coming back. TBH if I was 12 or 13 again I really don't think I'd take the same interest in football as I did many years ago. Too much money involved making watching top class football far too expensive. Champions league has ruined everything.
