I'm hoping to get to Leeds early doors then heading off to Harrogate about 12:00.

For anyone planning to travel by train over the weekend apparently you can get a weekend pass for £14.40.

I'm planning to watch it in Wincobank on the Sunday.

    *Just for sambora.

had this argument with my mother when I called at her house yesterday. I have no interest in cycling whats so ever. So I am not gonna start now. just because the tour de france is in Yorkshire doesn't mean Im all of a sudden gonna go watch it now.

Dont care if it never comes to yorkshire again, I certainly dont think im missing out on something by not going to watch.

I have never watched it on Tv so not gonna travel to see it.

My mother seems to think its an events not to be missed even if you have no interest

I live in Leeds City Centre and I'm doing my best to avoid it all this weekend.

It's pretty much shutting the whole centre down on my weekend off.

Wow. The world's biggest annual sporting event on your doorstep for the first time in its 111 year history.

Is Leeds only 111 years old?

I've never had an interest in cycling so why should I now?

It's like people pretending to love football because they've watched a bit of the World Cup.

But if you have no interest in it then how famous it is doesnt matter.

Ronald mcdonald himself could be in the kitchen making burgers but if I dont like mcdonalds food i wont go and have one just because hes there.

But it shouldn't stop you from appreciating the significance of the event and what an amazing thing it is for it to be starting 20 miles up the road.

I appreciate it, understand the history and significance but it doesn't mean I'll be walking 10 minutes from where I live to go and see it.

Don't fancy standing with thousands of people in the rain watching some lads set off on a bike ride.

    It's just not my thing.

I'll be at work at 6am both tomorrow and Sunday, not sure when I'll finish either otherwise I'd have been in Ilkley or Hebden Bridge. Gutted, but qué sera sera and all that jazz.

That's how I feel. I watch abit of cycling during the olympics but that's it. I've never had an interested in Tour De France so not going to start now just because it's a few miles away. Tomorrow will be womens final at Wimbledon and Argentina match.

(Andy Tyke this is a general reply I just had to put it somewhere)

I don't have a problem with people not being interested.... I couldn't give a hoot about Motor Sport, for example, and I'm hardly a knowledge on cycling.

If people aren't interested, fair enough, just don't watch it/ bother with it.

What bugs me is those folks who just deride it because it's not their thing. (This is not directed at anyone in particular).

I live in one of the Villages on the route. The Village has completely come to life, with events. The kids are enthusiastically learning about all things France/ Cycling. The roads have been resurfaced (praise the lord!) There is a sense of pride, and Community.
Everyone has plans to be somewhere/ do something. It's just brought the whole Community together.

I know that this isn't the case everywhere, but I do struggle to understand why people are so against it... what else that was so massively important are they missing out on? A trip to Asda? I understand the issues of travel, but stuff is in place.

I've had a texts all night from people just getting involved in the proceedings around the route..... camping, beer/ music festivals, bike races etc. People are just enjoying themselves..... seriously, what's the harm? Maybe people would just prefer another humdrum weekend?
