And like Ian said, the sale of young Gauld (?) means they are quite financially secure

Heard nothing this end. Sparky has just text me same.
We are debt free so no real need to sell but 250k is unlikely. He is now entering the last year of his contract but unless an offer nearer the 1m was on the table I think he will be staying.
He was on record as saying recently that he saw his future in the English prem. He maybe is being a wee bit optimistic there but for him to achieve his goal I'd say a move to div1 would be a huge backward step.

    I'll make enquiries.

Also in the Sunday people... Middlesbrough will let Jacob Butterfield leave. Anyone fancy him back at Oakwell?

I'd go and pick Butterfield up myself and piggy back him back to Oakwell. He'd tear League One to bits.

I'd love to see both players at Barnsley, but don't think we can afford either with respect to transfer fees & salaries. Neither would I expect them to want to play for Barnsley in Division 1.

I watched him play 3 times.
Once on telly and twice when I was down each time he was MOTM and a real thorn in the flesh of the oppo.

Really surprised he never made the grade at Boro. Maybe just wrong club.

Oh I agree completely but it's nice to be optimistic every now and again. Far too much pessimism on this board before we've even kicked a ball yet this season.

    Please remember at all times...........

Barnsley Football Club are now a League One football club who pay League One wages.

Jacob Butterfield is a Championship League footballer who will demand Championship League wages e.g. £10k per week.

It would be nice..........but it aint going to happen

Re. Mckay-Stephen, have we got 250k?

Re. Butterfield, Whitey should be out of his pit soon. He'll give us the lowdown...which will be unquestionably 100% fact and not to be argued with, at all, never.

I know absolutely nothing about this.

However, nothing in football surprises me anymore.

Regarding GMS, as others have stated already I would be pretty surprised if we were able to recruit him.

Nice to see a few rumours on here though, beats a load of threads about Le Tour and/or threads by a certain Welsh based postie who's had too many shandies down him.

Even more lower league *****! why can't we attract players from league one, or players that are struggling to get in championship squads, is it just as simple as we don't have the money or is it the manager, board, town, fans, ?

Can't see either of them signing. We're now league 1. If we were still championship I think we'd have a chance, but not now.

Nivver know when it comes to football, but I think it's highly unlikely.
