I don't think there's any evidence to suggest that he was at Elm Guest House for the same reasons that the likes of Cyril Smith were there (it was, after all, a gay friendly place too when they weren't ritually abusing those poor kids, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him put into a position soon whereby he has to make an announcement that will be the least surprising announcement since Arabian Ian tipped England to finish bottom of the group!

My favourite part is that childline only exists as a way to find out when kids are about to report any of the founders' mates. Presumably so that they can go and have them taken out or something.

Almost as bonkers as a drunk dragon

Well at least if the complaints do get past the childline "screen" they can always be sabotaged at the "crimewatch" stage. Unreal.

There's probably a few truths in there though. There's still been no realistic explanation for Jill Dando's murder and the "eastern european gangster" theory has absolutely no evidence, but is a convenient fallback.

I must be honest though and admit I've become kind of obsessed with this paedophile ring story over the past week or so, because I am absolutely disgusted by it and see the wider implications. MI5 getting wind of senior politicians' illegal activities leaves them wide open for blackmail and manipulation. And if you read Chris Fay's list of Elm House Guest House regulars you will note a former home secretary and the son of the chairman of Westland Helicoptors. Anyone who has studied politics even to the low level that I have will note the implications in that one. I would imagine things might be clicking together in Heseltine's mind. Just who has been running the country for the past 40 years and by what means?

Everyone knows about the Profumo affair and that the big problem was the security issue. Well take a look at the Elm House Guest House visitor list and tell me this is not 10 times worse. Or if you really want to start seeing what the major political parties are capable of, do a Google search on Sir Peter Hayman and read that scandal, which was covered up. You'll never watch Downton Abbey again once you read about that one and the fact that Julian Fellowes stands by his defence of the man.

I think that this scandal not only has the legs to bring down the government, but in the wake of the Hillsborough and Orgreave cover ups I thinks it is going to damage Westminster for a long time. It certainly appears that the government, government system, judiciary, police and the very people that were supposed to be there to defend these vulnerable people/kids (care institutions, national bodies, charities) were not only corrupt but a very large part of the problem. Seriously, I am absolutely fuming about all this. Like with the Savile case, the lowest of the low, the kids without any representation or voice, either before or afterwords, who the abusers knew would either be too scared or too naive to speak up and who they knew nobody would give a **** about, were taken advantage of in a way that those of us with more traditional upbringings couldn't dare to imagine.

Fortunately for the perpetrators, time, the destruction of evidence and the fact that the victims remain so vulnerable as not to be reliable witnesses will help protect them, but I sincerely hope that enough of the victims have it within themselves to come forward and burst the privileged bubble that these to55ers have been living in for the past few decades. And I hope the apologists within society go down with them. My little brother spent his first few years in care and I can't help but think that this could have been a path that he was dragged down. It doesn't bear thinking about.

While the game of 'hunt the paedophiles' goes on, in reality nothing is being done to protect youngsters.
