Oh, and one final point on the subject - two sides of Oakwell (home fans with matchday tickets) will be paying more than their away counterparts. ******* brilliant, that.

That's the crucial point really? Hone town pride us why we support Barnsley if the club fails to provide that the. What use is it?

    Re: Dangerous pricing policy

I'm probably wrong, but I believe the number of pay on the day fans has been steadily falling for a number of years (as has the number of season ticket holders). Too often in the past, the club has seen fit to make these fans jump through hoops in order to benefit from any price reductions. I can't see anything to encourage our lost supporters back down to Oakwell and halt this rot. The sneering and abusing of these people if they don't buy season tickets by other fans certainly doesn't help, either. Repeating the mistake of three years ago, when we cut the budget available to the manager whilst at the same time increasing admission & season ticket prices, especially after relegation, simply enforces the view of these fans they made the correct decision.
What enthusiasm I had for the coming season is beginning to dissipate.

I'm a firm believer that if you win football matches people will turn up, so looking at what's going on at the club our gates will hit a 20 year low this season, you could charge a score or even 15 quid and it wouldn't make much difference, people just don't want to watch *****, and with all the penny pinching and ruling ever decision with the bank book that's what's going to be on offer again next season and that's why people won't turn up

I believe that instead of being sat in the cold (sometimes dark) for a few hours for 25 quid against teams like Gillingham people will rightly spend their money better elsewhere. Maybe a nice pub meal and a few drinks.

    Aye.

Was looking forward to it. Away days to proper football grounds, actually being a 'bigger' team in the division instead of a 'small' one that all the other teams sneer at.

    Not sure now.

I'll still be there though, week in, week out. Pissed up, singing songs and having a laugh with my mates.

    Re: Dangerous pricing policy

I have to say, I won't be going now. I was struggling to justify the £23 (well £46 when I had to buy the hubby's too for the company) but I just can't bring myself to spend £50. I know I could sit in a different area but if I'm going to be paying over 20 odd quid to sit freezing cold (and generally in pain), I'm going to sit where I like or not go at all. £100 a week if Sat and Tues are at home is nothing something I am prepared to spend. I'm annoyed at myself to be honest, I got right into it last year and went to more matches than I ever have before and spent far too much money but I picked the wrong season :(

    Re: Im with you 100%

Shouldn't these prices have been announced at the time of the Early Bird offer .Those people that can't get to all the home games because of work commitments might have committed to a season ticket instead they might just think sod it,. It's a gamble that we will be challenging for promotion or we've got some big name signings coming

So did I, I'm steadily losing all interest unfortunately. Which is sad after 35 years of regular attendance and support.
