Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is hoping to be reacquainted with skipper Martin Cranie next season. And Wilson also wants star striker Chris O’Grady to continue plying his trade at Oakwell. Centre-back Cranie was one of the Reds’ better performers last season despite relegation from the Championship, while former Sheffield Wednesday and hitman O’Grady still managed to bag 15 goals in a beleaguered campaign. And Wilson has told The Star he hasn’t been surprised with the rumoured interest for both players, although only one official bid – for O’Grady – has been tabled during the summer. “Martin’s position is very similar to Chris, he’s a Barnsley player and we’re preparing for the season with him in our squad,” said Wilson. “He’s such a steady and reliable player, he had a good season for us last season. “I’d be surprised if there wasn’t in interest in players like Martin and Chris, they’ve both done well.” Meanwhile, Wilson has confirmed the squad will play two friendly games on their pre-season trip to Italy next week (15-22 July). The Reds are due to play Torino on Sunday 20th July, with the other fixture yet to be confirmed.
In other words..........'don't blame me guv when they leave the club, because it wont be my decision'
TALENTED DUO? have we signed 2 new players?....... cos the rest have a lot to prove after last seasons debacle hth
It's one of 4 things... Barnsley using media to demonstrate they really do want to sell. Sheff united using media to unsettle the player O'Grady/ his agent using media to issue a come and get me Or take it on face value and no offers have been made
Sheffield United will not have have made a offer. Just be Clough trying to unsettle their made rival for title race. Maybe we should do it to them and see how he likes it. Can't believe he's talking to the Media like hes doing.
i suspect he'll do an awful job and end up sacked by January. Showed how poor he was when McClaren took over and did a cracking job with pretty much the same squad.
Agree, Derby fans name for him a 'Non League Nigel' They can't believe how different the team started to play hen Clough left. Has tendency to fall out with certain players for no reason. Soon as they have a bad run it'll go awry
I bet he does..cos he knowns he's not much chance of replacing like for like..but it looks like the clubs see's only the decreasing value of an asset.
I know what you mean't....My laugh was at your blind faith, we do not even have a team, So apart for from the dream world of your own head, what else makes you think it wont be another struggle of a season, but in a lower league?
Which gives you the right to nail Danny every time we don't win, yes? Just checking. I'm sort of hoping you've dropped that hatred for him this season, mate. But regards your expectations, lower em. I've lowered mine. Mid table finish unless we get some more bodies in sharpish.
Whitey..that the kind line I think he's taking....if where at the top, then club, the young players and himself are all alright and great...if not the the blame will be on devil Danny
