The article is from 2010, but it rings even truer now. http://inbedwithmaradona.com/journa...ce-1998-how-german-football-got-it-right.html
Needs to start as soon as kids can kick a ball - needs a cultural change , players, coaches, and PARENTS !!! Blame the culture of the FA and the players .... kids from tha age of 7 playing to win at all cost, playing games and not getting a touch, kids not getting picked to play as they can't kick the opposition far/hard enough ...... Read this ..... Belgium/Holland/Germany/France all develop player - no suprises that even tho they may not have "the best league in the world (Copyright English PL)" their natioan teams do well, and 99% play for the biggest paying £££ leagues or clubs (Bayern/PSG in this bracket).... the England natioanl side is fecked until the culture changes http://www.theguardian.com/football/...ion-world-cup- One of the findings in the university research was that there was far too much emphasis on winning and not enough on development. There was also evidence to support the federation’s theory that 2v2, 5v5 and 8v8 were the best small-sided games to encourage children to practise the skills – dribbling and diagonal passing One of the biggest problems the FA have is playing a league system from U7 upwards - this encourages "winning rather then developing" what want to bottom of the league?...... most of the clubs I know, still have coaches/parents with a win at all cost approach. Disclaimer - I'm an RFU L2 coach - the "new approach" has been gradually introduced for the past 4 seasons in RU, the RFU are y rolling it out year by year, age group by age group - this season compulsary up to U10, with optional at U11. At U7 its 4 a side - with clubs, fielding 4 or 5 teams, so in a fixture, they'll play 5 or so small sided games - everyone plays. Winning is encouraged - more so at the U11 and above - but not at all cost - at our club the players have agreed all who turn up get the same game time, we have no favourites, they all pay the same subs. The RFU do not allow leagues until colts - U19 - so all games are classed as "friendlies". http://www.rfu.com/managingrugby/shapingthegame
If sky is to blame then what was our excuse for not qualifying for the world cup in 74 and 78? We've only had one decent euro tournament in 96 on our own soil again
We must be reading two totally different articles because nowhere in the one I've just read does it suggest that sky needs to collapse or that the success of germany is down to the collapse of the german version of sky. In fact it quite clearly states that the success of germany is down to policies put in place BEFORE the collapse doesnt it? Four things that i've been banging on about for years 1. Giving a football club a lot of money is a reason for prices to stay LOW and simply cannot be blamed for high prices. The only thing that can be blamed for this is financial mismanagement by out of touch chairmen. 2. Giving the FA a lot of money is a reason for grassroots football to have increased funding. If the FA has more money then it has more money to give out to secure the future, the fact that it hasn't done this is not the fault of sky who gave them the money it is the fault of those running the FA and once again financial mismanagement. 3. Premier league clubs having more money to spend means that clubs like barnsley SHOULD be able to sell their players for more money as the better clubs wanting to buy them have more to spend. The fact that this hasn't happened is not down to sky it is down to financial mismanagement of clubs like barnsley. 4. The english team being bad isn't because foreign players are in England. Logic dictates that if our players were better than theirs then THEY would be playing for their clubs and not be behind the foreigners in the pecking order. The fact that these players aren't improving is down to their greed by choosing to sit on the bench at a big club instead of playing regularly for another.
Agree with 1, 2 and 4 - 3 less so. Fees are already generally over-inflated, particularly for English players (unless we're selling them obv.). Money should be spent on better facilities and better coaching rather than fees.
