If there any "outs" they need to go before Italy, no good training them up in tactics and fitness then bogging off when they get back. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Maybe its my age and im having a senior moment but can anyone explain to me why the club is going to italy and what benefits will come out of it. i seem to be at a loss , why the club says on one hand its about getting fit, players bonding, getting to know one another, whilst on the other hand they say no knew signings will be made before they go. Whats the polnt in wasting all that money, rewarding players who as yet havent proved a thing . surely the money spent could be put to better use or is it a case of a free jolly for some...... thoughts people.
Aye tha carnt do that at Skegvegas Sands wi em all argueing on a heeap who hez to chase ball and bring it back when winds gorrodenit and its on its way darn to Boston.
How can it be team bonding if according to fletcher reede we want and are going to sign more players . If its team bonding you wait until all your teams signed up surely.
I'm not against these away day training camps. Get the squad together for a whole week, rather than couple of hours a day. Team bonding and all that. I've been away with a big group of people, some I didn't know too well, and come back having made really good friends. However, we haven't got a squad. We've only got 9 senior players. 7 of them know each other really well anyway. And some of that 7 may well be sold before the season starts. There are so few of them they could get to know one another's life stories in a couple of hours. It's a waste of time, effort and money. There are more positions in a football team than we've got players. Pick up a couple of injuries and we'll have Italians from the crowd playing in our practice games. Luke Steele will soon be 30. He's having to go on holiday with a bunch of teenagers. Not his own kids, some other *******. I bet he'd rather cut his own arms off.
You sure? Here's Luke getting a lift with Digby yesterday, after training, off on a road trip apparently. luke steele @lukeysteele1 ยท 18h Just on a road trip with a future Barnsley legend @PDiggers17. Lol....no chance of ball been blown to boston....went to caravan wednesday in skeggy came home yesterday....rain was bouncing a foot high from 5am cold to boot. Like middle of winter ....
I was taking the piss with the 'team bonding' post and the one about September. I would normally agree with these kind of trips. But as you stated and as we all know, we've not really got a squad unless we really are going into a season with two thirds of the first team made up of 16, 17, 18 and 19 year old academy bairns. So it seems a strange trip if 'team bonding' is the idea of it all. Perhaps we're looking at Italian trialists whilst there? Or forging links with Torino etc? I dunno. But my gut tells me THIS is pretty much (save for a few loan additions) our squad this season, until COG and perhaps another are flogged on. And so Danny wants to take them away for whatever reason he's decided. Perhaps to get the kids used to being away from home? Get them used to getting up early, going to bed later? I honestly haven't a clue. The weather is great here. There's plenty of willing teams we could play. I'd save coin and continue to train here. But I'm not a successful football manager so what do I know?
If the club is to cut its cloth accordingly then trips like this need to be ditched. Bonding and all that can take place on the training ground and the manager can still pursue any potential targets. That is of course assuming Wilson has the choice on selecting new recruits dependant on finances. For all we know he might not have a say on the process.
