It's almost half way between 2000 and 2030...

Isn't 2030 supposed to be the far distant future when we all have flying cars and teleporters?

Where the **** has time gone?

Young uns eh - I remember when 2000 was the far distant future and watching Star treck where they had those far fetched communicator things that were only good for talking into - look at todays mobile phones - some things go far beyond what was thought of and others never actually happen - not sure teleporting will ever take place but self drive cars are here now wont be long before they are quite common

I remember reading 1984 and thinking that was a long way off (and it was only 8 years away!)

I re-read it a couple of years ago - its scary how accurate large parts of it are. I thought of it again the other day when in the interests of personal privacy the EU is now forcing google etc to delete history that people want forgotten

I read it last year and it's as if if was written last year.

Pretty scary thought considering it was supposed to be a nightmare world of the future written in 1949. Parallels between the book and our modern time are frightening.
