Almost everyone you see there is fat and tattooed, even the OAPs. The population of the UK is going to get fatter in future, we all know that, but also as Wombwell has shown, more tattooed so invest in tattoo parlours people.
why pick on Wombwell? same in most socially deprived towns - fat and tattooed, its the uniform of the poor and ignorant or both i've found wombellers to be pretty tough, so i keep me digs at softer places like Cawthorne, ingbirchworth etc ...... cycled through ingbirchworth today, skinny feckers, bart tats, the lot of them ....
Bloody hell - couldn't believe that place when I was going to work on the bus, passing it at about 8am and there were people in having a beer. Of course they may have just come off a night shift I guess.
**** you, not everyone is fat and has tattoos in Wombwell. It's the only Town in Barnsley I would live in. With all the new houses being build Wombwell is being regenerated and will sooon be thriving as a Town just like we were before we got dragged into Barnsley Met in 1974 by the Tories. No doubt BMBC will continue to sell all our assets off. The Baths the Town Hall all sold off. They are even selling the High Street bogs. Wombwell was a fantastic place before Barnsley Council got its dirty hands on us. We have suffered so resources can be redirected by BMBC to Barnsley. I'd have our old Council back anytime. Freedom for Wombwell.
I quite like Wombwell, free parking, good chippy, couple of decent cafes but the last 3 or 4 times I've been I've never seen so many overweight people or people with tattoos, there were even little girls with crop tops and big bellies sticking out underneath. As Eastender said though, the pubs were packed and it was morning, I guess unemployment is particularly high there?
I only mentioned 1 pub. There's a cracking boozer further on, The Angler's Rest - Geeves Brewery tap. They only open in the evening though because they want to keep the piss heads out.
