I've been seeing this over and over again and whilst having a scan over the board this morning I've seen that it's been said again. The two ways this would apply would: *Hes 20 at the start of the season, well this isn't the case as hes already 21 and will be 22 in December. *The other could be ''The rules apply to all clubs and there is no moratorium for clubs relegated from the Championship. However, Transitional Arrangements are in place whereby clubs are allowed to exclude the wage costs of all players that the club signed pre September of the relegation season, if they were signed on contracts in excess of 3 seasons.'' The key words for me are in this ''signed pre September of the relegation season, if they were signed on contracts in excess of 3 seasons''. Dale didn't sign a deal in excess a 3 seasons, he signed a deal for three seasons at the club and of which hes still go slightly less than 2 years left at 23 month. For me he signed a deal that was one year sort of this ruling and of which it doesn't apply to Dale or anyone within the Barnsley squad. Not having ago at anyone but it seems to be something spreading like a rash across the broad and from what I can see it's got little or no truth in it.
Seems you are having a disagreement with yourself Gollum/Smeagle. Cant say I have seen much written about this but you go for it mucker.
None of it fecking matters any way because they signed contacts in the championship it's the club using this scmp ****** as a excuse to cut the wage bill even though we don't have to
we've got to cut the budget Nightmare. We had a very high wage budget to turnever in the championship at about 80/90% and that isn't allowed in league one. You can only spend 60% of Turner over on players 21 and over when the season starts. and to JackTatty http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?212950-Luke-Steele-medical-at-Panathanaikos comment 25

but he didn't sign in excess of surely, he signed a 3 year deal. I've read another article that says it as you had to sign a 4 year plus deal in the champ and still have three years left whilst in league one.
Whose to say his contract aint slightly over 3 years. Signed on 18/06/13 could finish like most on 30/06/16. The club would still say it was a 3 year contract to all and sundry.
Try to understand what you read rather than regurgitating it. He signed a 3 year contract. In legal terms thus equates to 3 years or more. It's a common bit of legalise.
I've told thi till am sick of telling thi. So am not telling thi again thee just carry on living in thi own little bubble where tha never wrong si thi
Okay then. I've misunderstood that. Thanks. Makes things a little bit easier for the club with wages.
Of course tests as far as we know knowing our track record with contracts it'll be 2 yeasts and 364 days so he will count!
3 years is 3 years. 3 seasons are completed within those 3 years. If his contract expires in June, 3 seasons have elapsed in the meantime. The contract is in excess of 3 seasons.
You are claiming that 'in excess of three seasons' means 4 seasons. I would argue that in excess of three seasons is anything over three seasons. Three seasons and one day is in excess of three seasons. Dale Jennings signed for us on June 18th 2013. Like all footballers, his contract will expire at the end of June, June 30th 2016 for Jennings. Therefore, Dale Jennings signed for Barnsley for 3 seasons and 12 days. That is in excess of 3 seasons. Nowhere in the rules does it say that a player has to sign for 4 seasons. If that's what they meant, that's what they would have said. It's actually not even that complicated, I just illustrated it that way to help you understand the point. A season is 9 months. Dale Jennings signed for 3 years. 3 years is much longer than 3 seasons. Anyone who signed a 3 year contract before September of the relegation season is exempt, whether they signed that in May, June, July or August.
