Need to get them off the wage bill fast and sign a few prospects in time for the big kick off. COG, Crainie and Steele would be luxuries in league 1 and all lack the required leadership qualities that are sadly missing. Interesting that no-one is in a hurry to sign COG AND Crainie.
Inclined to agree wi thi, Owd Tom. As for Kennedy, I'd cancel his contract and agree compensation with him.
I forgot about Kennedy which says it all (or maybe my age). I think our only significant asset from last season's debacle is Dale Jennings - I hope he stays with us. Regarding character and leadership (not related to ability) only Ramage showed this.
Oh aye flog O'Grady we can always play someone from the under 7s... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Perhaps the reason behind them not being sold so far is due to the asking price, which will obviously reduce the nearer we get to the transfer window deadline, rather than them not being good players?
It HAS to happen for financial reasons (wage bill etc) so the sooner the better to prepare for the new season. We might even get some money for COG if he leaves now rather than in January. Better to have a long term common sense strategy and stick to it than to stumble along aimlessly.
Don't worry clubs know what they are doing with COG. Watch us pay him his high wage until the week of the new season where all of a sudden COG with full pre season behind him is snapped up ready to make his debut for club number 12 a few days before the season starts. Why would a club try and sign him now? They would have to pay him a big wage for another 3-4 weeks before the season starts.
It is better to have a long term strategy with defined goals and markers. For a club like ours youth developing, integration and sales are crucial. From the outside looking in we look in turmoil. A couple of weeks before the season we have about half a team less if we sell more players. As for the financial position I have no idea what that is. Our Chief Executive states we have a competitive budget. We have paid a bigger transfer fee than any of our rivals so I'm presuming that whilst we would like to move some players out it doesn't have to happen. If we have a competitive budget than we should be able to retain a journeyman striker who has played most of his career at that level. Should we not? As it stands at the minute would struggle to put out a decent 5 a side team. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
