“I will always give everything, no matter who I’m playing for, but having played for Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday in the past, I know what it’s like to play for a big club – and Brighton certainly fall into that category.
He knows what it's like to spend two minutes at every club he's at. He will reach 20 clubs before he retires.
Just a cliched comment from O'Grady, one to please the Brighton fans who already think themselves as huge. Escaping such delusions of grandeur is a plus point of relegation personally. The Championship is basically a precession of middle ranking clubs with money, all falling over themselves to proclaim how massive they are. Brighton ffs, only considered a big club because their new stadium opened them up to swathes of bored Sussex families who previously had no club in reasonable travelling distance to support (and who didn't fancy the athletics track at Withdean).
Brighton have won the League One title a few times and once got to the FA Cup Final, they're not a big club.
Not knocking him , but what do people expect from footballers? They are all mercenaries, but so long as they do the biz when with us, I will accept them.
Bog standard Press sound bite from a new signing. Thank fook he didn't sign for the blunts!!! This thread would be approaching 200 posts and several coronaries already....
I don't know that's it the fact that he called Brighton big that is the problem, it's that he named 2 previous clubs as examples and not us.
or alternatively he could roll up at his new club and say "it's a crock of *****, I've played for better but at least I get to live by the seaside here and I didn't have any better offer s from proper big clubs it'll have to do" now given that Brighton and he needs to endear himself to the fans, seriously what do you expect him to say?
Of course he's got to endear himself to the Brighton fans mate I think it's more of a fact when mentioning his previous clubs he mentions Leicester and Wednesday and no mention of us.
Exactly. There was no need for the Leicester and Wednesday part of his comments. I don't really care, but I saw it and thought it was worth sharing. And Brighton aren't a big club. Never have been, and unlikely to ever be.
Contrast O'Grady with Steele - that's why I'm gutted that Steele has gone and I couldn't give a toss about COG.
Can't disagree with those sentiments MK. There's a difference between being a great player and a great person. Luke is both. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
