RS understands that #chesterfieldfc are to give a trial to former Fleetwood striker Jon Parkin. That trial starts today..... Hearing that after further discussions late last night, Jon Parkin will NOT now be training with #chesterfieldfc this week From Giddings......Hope he turns up at Oakwell,,
He's at the very bottom of a list of players I wouldn't want at oakwell. Cracking bloke, but not much of a footballer.
Brilliant lad. When he was at York met him on a night out with a mate. He said he'd walk back to Oakwell for a chance to play for us again. Unfortunately his day us done even at League 1 level.
Fits the...DNA.. for me, just the kind of centre-forward you'd want in the ale-house league...up fo't scrap and knows where the net is..
Article in french daily La Criox. French farmers are trying to secure the services of former professional footballers Mido and Jon Parkin as they believe they could do a far better job of ploughing their fields instead of the cart horses they are currently using, a spokesman for the farmers said they are hoping to have both former players signed up by the end of today for an undisclosed fee, the only stumbling block is the cost of feeding both ex players which could rise considerably from the current set of cart horses they are using at this moment in time.
My thoughts too. Always got time for a chat when seen out and about (last time was Live In Barnsley festival) but not the type of player we need.
Can I ask why people have to be so rude and obnoxious when they talk about individuals, especially lads from Barnsley who have done well. Fair enough to say, no thanks or I dont feel he'd do a job anymore, but why do we have to slag someone off. I know Jonny, he's a great lad and would have walked over hot coals to play for his club, that club being Barnsley FC. Not many would say that. Granted, maybe, its a few years too late, but christ on a bike why we have to say things like, he's not been much of a footballer etc. The lad has played at a high standard for the vast majority of his career. He's been hero worshipped at the clubs he has played at, he's scored more goals than all of our strikers put together. Last season he scored 10 goals in about 20 games, not bad for someone who isnt much of a footballer.
That. All day long. It's not enough to not rate them, the boot has to be stuck in too as some bizarre for of justification.
No wonder, no fcuker wants to play for us anymore. Its unbelievable how some people haven't committed Harry Caray on here, how negative they perceive the world to be. The worlds quite a nice place when you take a step back from a wnak stained laptop.
