Bobby Flavell that's a blast from the past.
RIP Bobby

 

One of the first badges I had as a kid was Bobby Flavell. I didn't realise he'd died nearly 20 years ago.

RIP Bobby, another red who's no longer with us.

 

In my time as a red. In my opinion. He's the worst regular left back I've had to endure watching/supporting. And boy have I wanted him to do well. I always do with the **** players, always get behind em more especially at games.

I thought Gibbs was the worst I'd seen, and Maccavelli was God awful in the main. Keith Brown used to play there as well sometimes, and he was THE worst defender I've seen for us. But in terms of regular left backs, his supposed salary, his pally relationship with the management, and the ***** I had to see him produce last season, he gets my vote for worst Reds left back in my 26 seasons watching BFC. Dunt make it fact or owt, s'just an opinion. And, for the record (and I always say this) I rated him as the left sided centre half in a three under Flicker initially.

I was lucky enough to see Beresford, Fleming, Eaden, Barnard and Thompson in my formative years. Proper quality full backs. I've seen Hassell, Trippier and Stones since. I know a good full back. I think. And Kennedy isn't one. He's a **** one.

But as it turns out that the txt I received looks to have been ********, and he's still here as of now, I'll still support him at Oakwell should he stick around. Just as I always do, to a man. Won't make him any less ****, mind.


Seems I got the O'Neill interest reight though. Swings and rahndabarts.


Prefer signings like today though. Out the blue. They give you an unexpected lift.

And he seems the sort of midfielder that I noticed at Halifax was clearly missing. A steadying influence. He should allow Conor to get forward and do his thing. Unless we're playing three in there, where Digby could be ideal, again, as he'd have a man deep to protect him.

Don't recall seeing much of this lad, but his pedigree is decent and in Danny I trust.

Oh, and he's got the initials of a great former BFC midfielder. (just for @thereev)

See my above musings, Kev. I can only apologise for getting folk's hopes up. I got a txt from a lad I trust, saw a tweet along the same lines and shared it here. What with Ben's interview stating they'd offered him a settlement, and Gum121 saying similar before that, I thought it was really happening.

But clearly not, as of right now.

Gum121 has never been wrong to my knowledge and is pretty much 'just' an ITK poster. That's not a dig, it's just the truth. Vast majority of his posts are solid info etc. If he says summat, you know it's bang on. For now! Whereas I am just a regular poster who knows next to nowt but occasionally gets wind of stuff and shares it. I'd say my success rate is lower than 50%. And I can't remember saying anything is for certain. So if I ever share owt in future (I'm thinking of not doing actually) I'd take a pinch of salt with it.

It may still prove to be correct, Andy. I see nothing wrong with passing on such information, especially as you highlighted the fact you'd got it from Twitter as well as from a friend. If it proves to be totally wrong, then it's totally wrong. It's hardly a hanging offence.

Ooh, no. Not for me. Both sound too painful for a wimp like me. Given the choice, I'd go for being suffocated in the ample bosom of Nurse Gladys!

By the way I'm with you on the centre half (in a 3) thing, thought he was pretty good there. Awful awful full back though.
