...but I read the board avidly every day. It's been hugely entertaining at times, and somewhat sickening to read the vitriol that been directed at Ben Mansford in recent weeks. Some of it totally uncalled for and completely out of order. I think he's an articulate and ambitious character who genuinely has the interests of the club at heart. Yes, I've been slightly concerned over recent weeks due to the lack of incoming transfers and communication with the fans but I have every confidence in Ben to help Danny deliver the signings needed. The commercial side of the club still worries me and although Ben is complicit in that asepct he is clearly trying to drive positive change in that area with one arm tied behind his back. The reason I chose to post today though is to publicly back Danny Wilson, to back Mansford, and to back the club this season. The signings today (although a few more are still needed in my opinion over this and next week) are hugely encouraging and finally I can see a long term approach starting to take shape and some strategic thinking on the playing side. Just need the same in our commerical activity and we might become established on an upward curve again quite soon. Best of luck to Danny and the club this season, and thanks to those behind the scenes at Oakwell who are starting to make things happen in the recruitment of players for this season. UTR. Mike.
Great post. Agree with what you say entirely. I think we will see improvements in commercial side of things over the next year. People are appointed to improve that and as they negotiate out of existing agreements, whilst also striking up new ones, things will fall into place.
You're still one of my favourite posters even when not posting. Ignore real life, kids and ****. Post more.
The last couple of days have been such a relief, particularly in bringing in a good keeper. I was getting a bit nervous a few days ago and was fearing panic buys and loans aplenty, but things are starting to look a lot rosier now. It's still going to be a slow start to the season until the team settles down, but with the players coming in having age on their side and signing longer contracts than we have been used to they can have that time. All we really need to see in the first month or two is that things are coming together. I'm actually quite looking forward to Saturday now. Just wish I wasn't getting dragged up to Scotland for a family birthday on the opening day of the season!
