Can't see it being Baker. Coventry fans seem pretty sure he's on £8k a week. Even if that's higher than his true salary I doubt we'd be matching the pay of one of Coventry City's biggest earners (signed on a Championship contract), especially as he'd probably command a transfer fee as well. In some ways I'd be concerned if we did.
That makes it marginally more likely. But even so, are we going to hand over upwards of £6k in wages after having spent the summer getting rid of players on similar amounts?

Me and Hicksy were in a meeting with him on Friday afternoon when he arranged it with the agent. Neither of us could work out who it was though and he wasnt letting on If Baker was at Oakwell I'd say it was him though
Ben said he was Bakers agent in times past, so he'll know what he gets at Cov. Weather that makes any difference in him signing we'll have to wait and see
If Carl Baker walked passed me in the street I would be non the wiser, it's only that I saw a bloke chatting with Ben Mansford in the corner stand with tattoos all up his arm that I started trying to work out who it was. I then came on here and saw Nbuk said we're after Carl Baker so I Google him and it was 100% him! Coventry fans on twitter are gutted he's going.
Don't forget the club can get around SCMP with signing on fees, eg £52k fee and 1k per week = 2k per week etc.
I was thinking that myself the other day. Is that allowed? We could offer 250k signing fee (if no transfer fee it's same as we have been paying/bidding) and 2k a week and sign a player who is in effect on 7k a week (for a season anyway). Offer a pay rise for the 2nd season if we get promoted. We could even agree with the player to pay him the 250k over the length of his contract. I don't think he'll be on that anyway.
