probably early to mid 70's,i know a couple of members quite well and they'd finished by 76ish and that's about the time saxon were formed from members from SOB and Coast.

No, they started out as Son of a Bitch in 76 after two bands SOB and Coast merged, they changed to Saxon a couple of years later and released their first album in 1979.

    OK fair enough...

    You love music.

That puts you better than 85 percent of the population.

    Just don't get that stuff.

I'm a soul & reggae man, but like RATM, Motorhead, Metallica (in places) & Black Sabbath. I also like Mogwai who are fairly "heavy".

I used to drink with him in the eighties at the Ferryboat, that was the regular spot if he wasn't away touring,in fact most people from Mexborough area who played in bands seemed to sup in the ferry,i don't even know if its still open its been that long since last time I was in.

As was my "OK fair enough" .... at the end of the day I try & keep an open mind & if I'm DJing to a crowd that want Def Leppard I will play it .... just in my world I don't get that era of rock... at the time on the US front I was listening to the Ramones, R.E.M. , Pere Ubu, The Minutemen, Husker Du & Bob Dylan (I appreciate the last is unrelated)...

Cant remember, I was a teenager just "learning" to take my drink...I went to gigs and Football matches that I can't remember much about...remember a band called White Spirit at the Reform....Oh the Ferry and the George are still there but I haven't been in either for over 25 years....

the blodwyn pig gig was in the early nineties when the local blues scene had really picked up,they had some good bands on during that time.I remember White Spirit,in fact I'm sure they supported saxon on one of their tours.
Reform was the first club I was ever an affiliated member of,i still have my cards and the original wallet.
