James Bailey was but not sure about the others although I would have thought Sam Winnall would have been on someones list.
**** all I'm asking a question, They seem to have just popped up Plymouth lad and winnall being the exceptions, we had a free run at them even though the deal was public with turned down bids but no-one else bid, Keeper was never linked with us until radio shitfield told us he'd signed, same with berry
I think the posh tried to sign Luke Berry earlier on this year, Winnall was apparently wanted by a few league 1 clubs and I'm sure Donny would have tried to sign Bailey if they had the money! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hemmings was linked with Blackburn Bailey was obviously at Doncaster on trial. Think Hourihane was linked with Peterborough a Brentford but not sure how strongly linked.
Remember not many clubs at our level are actually wanting to pay transfer fees, they all seem to be battling it out for out of contract players
Yes I think its a testament though to how we have maintained a good level of professionalism and kept things quiet given that our name only came up against them when we were close to the deal.
I think it also shows our intent that we've been willing to target players at other clubs rather than solely out of contract players. It shows that we're not settling for 2nd best and we're actually going for our main targets, despite the fact that they're coming at a cost.
I've not seen much of you lately, Nightmare, commending the club/Danny (or, knobhead as you like to call him) on the myriad signings made recently. I thought that's what you wanted? Sure you said we'd not sign more than three before August 9. A few other posters conveniently missing of late, too. The bairners have nowt to bairn about. At least Nightmare is trying, mind.
Must admit I'm pretty impressed with him so far. Looked good against 2 decent sides. I realise friendlies are not the best to judge on, just hope he shows it in the league
An "in the know" Blunt, informed me a few weeks ago that O'Grady was Clough's No1 striker target and if that failed Winnall was the second choice. Obviously I've not taken the piss out of him...
I'll second that, their CEO Jim Phipps Direct Messages the fans back to questions asked on twitter, and he told my mate the exact thing, that O'Grady was their number one target and they were moving onto their number two...didn't say who but my mate was adamant it was Winnall.
Leeds and Wednesday were 'linked' in the media with Winnall too. In fact there's a thread on Owlstalk discussing him and his merits a few weeks ago. Just as there was on the Blunts forum. They seemed keen. But now they think he's a gamble... Ar well, they've got Porter up front, with JCR supplying him..
Agreed. Fact is that the fowls can't spend owt on transfer fees till their take-over goes through, mmm, don't hold your breath. And the blunts had little or no transfer funds till McGuire was sold...Snooze and you lose. Maybe, just maybe, we have better management than our massive neighbours...
What are we actually commending the club for though? We released twenty players, needed to bring in about a dozen but brought in half a dozen. Half a job. I'm sure most other people don't get praised for doing half a job.
