Strolled through the game like Paul Futcher used to do and oozed class. There's been a lot of talk about wanting him off the books, but I'm glad he's still here. We've got a very young and inexperienced team. Having a calming influence like Cranie could prove invaluable. Apparently Danny Wilson said he could be the best defender in the division and I think he could be right. Good to see Digby stroking the ball around like a seasoned pro too. Lot's to enjoy this aft.
That's a brave comparison Jay but I can see where you're coming from. I'm happy he is still here and I think he will be a massive influence for us especially when you consider the relatively young squad we have.
Except for his **** up near away dugout. Crainie is a funny one for me looks like a rolls royce purring around pitch one game and then not knowing where is arse is the next. Stiil he`s here and his experience should be invaluable.
Yep, looked assured and dependable as did Reece Brown. Nyatanga was prone to errant passing which put us in difficulty once or twice.
So a comparison with Futcher is a fair one, then. Futch made a habit of doing exactly that frequently over his six years at the club.
Wasn`t disagreeing just giving my opinion on MC. There is a likeness in the cool, calm and collected stakes.
They certainly have great similarities in style of play. I'm a big fan of Cranie, that's no secret, but I was a bigger fan of Futcher's who, for me, was much the better player.
I'm with you on that Kev. Cranie is a quality centre half on his day but for me Futch is probably the best centre half I've seen at Oakwell.
Paired with Eric Winstanley, I would agree with you. Then again, Mick McCarthy and Ian Evans take some beating as an effective pairing. Let's face it, we have been blessed with some truly superb players in that red shirt over the years but, far too often, the whole team has not performed with the consistency that allowed us to enjoy long periods of success. But then again, who wants to be a MUFC supporter??????
