He started a company called Flying TV, which provided flying ariel coverage for tv programmes, he sometimes was the camera man . He was a helicopter pilot though, he crashed in the late 80`s and Sarah Greene broke both her legs in the crash and he broke his back. Then he went car racing.
I watched Mike Smith during his car racing period. A few times. He wasn't brilliant or anything, but certainly not terrible. He won some stuff but was often midfield, which actually means he was a pretty good driver. I also knew him from the radio and TV, of course, but his biggest claim to fame was that he married Sarah Greene. Sarah Greene may not be all that, but for men my age who grew up on Blue Peter, Saturday Superstore and Going Live! there was no one in the world we wanted to **** more. (Well, maybe Madonna.) But we didn't get to do that because Mike Smith was ******* her (or so we told ourselves) which pretty much makes Mike Smith the number one stud of the 80s. Well played Mike mate, you bettered us all.
I thought that the rugby team at Hull University had all had a go on Sarah on a pool table - that was the urban myth going around at Nottingham University in 1988 anyway....
