Thinks he's better than he is. Thank goodness he's not on our books.

Wouldn't swap him for any of the new midfielders Danny has brought in.

Can't stand the man, how on earth that man claims a wage for being a footballer is beyond me! One of the worst midfielders I've ever seen.

Have to agree DR. I go back as far as Kenny Brown so I've seen some bad ones but for me he's the worst.

He is far from the worst midfielder we have ever had.

Lumsdon, Alex Neil, Peter Sand, Kevin Dixon, Andy Johnson, Steve Hayward. Give me Dawson any day. Mitch Ward. There are loads I would rank behind him.

He isn't the most gifted footballer ever, but I feel he always did his best. Good luck to him.

he's definitely not the worst player i've ever seen in a barnsley shirt, but he's clearly expecting more £££ than he's worth. he'll end up in league 2, no doubt

Steve Dawson cannot pass, tackle, control or shoot - he can run all day long.

Our midfield is better for his leaving.

Good indication of the state of Spotland this. Woodworm in the floorboards I'd wager. And Dawson is a bit of a fat b'stard.

Pretty much. Although, with the sorry state of the team last season, his willingness to run put him ahead of many of the players. Not that I was sorry to see him go, I was pretty sure we'd be able to sign better, hopefully much better. I think we have. He tried but he wasn't any good. I doubt I'll remember much about him in 10 years.

I wonder how the wages he is now being offered compare to the contract we offered him. I've no doubt the package we offered was substantially less than the contract he had previously enjoyed, because, let's face it, although Wilson thought he could do a job, he wasn't exactly desperate to keep him. However, I bet Dawson is now thinking he should have signed it. I can't imagine the Rochdale are offering any more. I'm not disrespecting Rochdale, it's just that they run a tight ship, they don't overspend and they're not going to break the bank on a player like Dawson. I don't rate Keith Hill, but he's not ******* stupid. He knows a good player at this level and he knows he would only be bringing Dawson in as competition for places, not as his star man. Any contract offer would reflect that.

As time passes and Dawson becomes desperate for any club to take him, I can see him putting pen to paper on a contract significantly lower than what he turned down with us.

Hayward was ten times the player Dawson will ever be. With the exception of Dixon, who we saw about twice, and Sand all the other players you have named were better than Dawson. Never seen someone so lacking in basic footballing attributes. He ran around like a berk on speed though and for some people hats more than enough.
