The lad has had a fair crack. Does not have the physique for a central striker, and doesn't have the pace to make up for that. Out of his depth today from start to finish and he was a passenger. We'd all love to see another local lad prosper, but as GFT said to me: "wishing for it isn't enough." Sad, but today shows this will not be an easy league either and we need to cut our losses.

To be fair to Danny our service to him today didn't help one little bit.

"The lads had a fair chance". I take it you are aware that today was his 4th start in professional football.

    Some people...

Can he seriously expect to challenge Lita or Hemmings? And Winnall can at least boast 23 goals last season. Why will more games give Danny Rose the strength or pace he doesn't possess now? May not have had many starts, but he's been at the club quite a while. Being able to wind up Danny Shittuu is entertaining, but it won't get us (or him) anywhere. It's not a game for sentiment.

fair crack?,not sure about that, its like saying he's been given enough chances when he's only started four games. However,he does look like a schoolkid playing in a blokes team and at the moment doesn't look up to it,i cant see him featuring much this season.Shame really because I really want him to do well.

If danny is going to play rose up front some physical presence is needed with him same with winnall that was our downfall today

His 4th start & he's had 'a fair crack at it'.

Behave, you're making a tit of yourself

What are we judging him on though? His ability to bring down long high balls with two defenders up his backside? His ability to link play up on the half way line? I'll only write him off when he's missed two or three one on ones and a couple of sitters. A striker needs to be judged on his chance conversion, and Rose hasn't had a much of a sniff at goal neither today, or his fleeting appearances last term.

He looks physically weak and his touch needs work, but without any decent service we cannot write him off.

After one game , it's too early to judge team . As for Danny , he's a goal poacher . Can't expect him to hold the ball up like ogrady used to . Too many high balls upto our attackers , let's get it on floor and pass it

TBH if he wasn't a local lad I don't think he would have the support he has.
Personally I don't see him as anything as an occasional sub, I think today showed the way his lack of physical stature limits his usefulness, not really a threat in the air and gets knocked off the ball too easily. Also thought he showed his inexperience and immaturity in his decision making (when to shoot or not) and that stupid handball
I would like to think that he could improve with experience but I just don't see it, and if he played for somebody else I certainly wouldn't be thinking I wish we had him

Can't remember Andy Liddell being an imposing physical presence and he did ok. Poor service and no worse than Winnall

If that as an answer to me And Liddell was more talented and so made up for the other things Winnall is a proven goal scorer . And for the record I really hope Rose makes it but I just don't think he will for the reasons I gave

Correct. What we lack is height up front and Lita ain't the answer. We have to play to feet.

Technically Winnall's goals per games record is worse than Rose. Not to knock him he will be a good signing for us but after several seasons at this level and above doing chuff all he had one good season at a level below not exactly a 'proven goal scoring record' again at league 2 level Rose demonstrated on loan to Bury that he would be 20+ a season.

Winnall's only a proven scorer at a lower level. When it comes to League 1 they're both novices

Big season for Danny. He's one of own and he needs to prove himself as a professional at this level.

I think he'll make it genuinely
