clearly not the world beater we had hoped or he'd be in the side by now. Ive seen pretty much every league game he's played, all 6 of them, and although he showed some promise, he's not in the same class as Stones, sorry, some people are obviously clinging onto some hope that doesnt exist, Wilson wouldve blooded him by now. Maybe its this long term injury or lack of confidence, but it looks to me he'll fall into the RNL group of early promise never realised at this rate.
I think this is the make or break season - hoping you are as accurate as usual with your prediction and he becomes the next Butterfield. He has definitely shown signs that he could be good but never really had a run in the team for us to find out if he has it or not
He's 19, playing in the position in which experience is probably the most important, and has had long term injury problems.
to be fair to Buttercup, he was a decent laiker at championship level and we ain't seen owt yet from Digby to suggest he is anywhere near Buttercup. hth
I never thought he was a world beater and anybody who did is wrong. I think the vast majority of fans see him for what he is, a young kid with bags of potential but he is still developing and needs time. Building him up as a world beater just gives ammo to the ones who will jump on his back if he doesn't rip the opposition to bits every game.
I don't think anyone's ever thought Digby was in the class of Stones. Stones looked quality before the league season even started in the friendly v West Brom & at Rochdale in the league cup but he's an exception. Whilst Digby hasn't looked much cop we've barely seen anything of him. He deserves a season where he's regularly in the 18 man squad & makes 20-30 appearances before he can be properly judged & that goes for RNL, Rose & any of the other young lads. Some players need to build up confidence by getting a run of games before they play to their best

In every game I have seen Digby play in he has been exceptional. At least equal to the standards set by stones
Digby has the potential to be a Premier League player. He's just suffered a setback because of the previous manager. The manager who claimed he had a proven track record bringing the young players through.
You don't make the England youth squads if you're ****. But, I feel for the lad a bit. He was bigged up incessantly by Flitcroft and Mansford last year, then cast aside for folk like Fox, Dawson and Mellis. Also, I'm not sure he's ever been fully fit for more than a month. I remember going to Pride Park when Keith was in charge and he came on as a sub that night early on and he and Butterfield looked class together. But then he got injured and was injured for pretty much all of Keith's tenure as manager. Shame, as he'd have given him the games he needs. I think Danny looked to do that with him last season, but in those games (Donny, Wigan stand out) he was average at best. He now seems to be behind the new lads brought in, and for me, Abbott looks more likely to break through. Against Halifax this summer, Digby looked spent after ten minutes and slower than Greening on ketamine. Not saying he won't come good, but summat isn't right. If it's just a case of needing games, then I say we give them him. Starting tomorrow night. Rest Hourihane. He's vital to us already from what I've seen. Play Digby further forward, bit of freedom to express himself.
Whitey, would you let Digby go out on loan even at this stage of the season? If he's down the queue a little now and he needs games would you allow him to join another club to get him match sharp. No, mate. I'm keen to see him make his mark and fully supportive of him getting that chance. If he plays poorly, I'll say so. I won't cast him out though. I'd keep playing him. Same goes for RNL and the likes. I don't include Rose because he's the one lad that I would send out on loan, once Hemmings is fit. Danny needs to score goals, it's what he's about. But unless we play him alongside a target man (O'Grady style) he'll look poor for us. However, I think a lot of folk assume Leroy Lita is a small, nippy striker. He isn't. He's my height, he's strong, holds the ball up and brings others into the game. He's very good at scoring goals at this level too, for this manager. I see him, Winnall and Hemmings as three different types of strikers and I'm confident they'll do the business for us. As things stand, I think Nana and RNL are better options than Rose based on their ability to play all across the frontline. Danny is a penalty box striker, a poacher. He couldn't make owt stick on Saturday, struggled to make an impact. Not writing him off on that one game, but he does need to add a few more strings to his bow if he's to make it at this level or beyond.
Well done. In the space of two days you've written off Rose, Digby and RNL. Quite why they don't give you a job at the Academy weeding out all the rubbish before any time and money is spent on them is beyond me. Except there would be no-one left. I accept you are entitled to an opinion but it would be good if, for once, you had something good to say.
