Neither would I, however a jury unanimously found him guilty and 2 sets of appeal judges have so far reviewed the case and it's finding and found no grounds for an appeal or to change it's ruling Surely SUFC must see that employing him again is wrong
She seems unaware how silly she looks standing by a convicted rapist who cheated on her. She must have really grown accustomed to a cushy lifestyle from the wages he earned. I'm sure if Evans was in a normal everyday job like an electrician or builder or office worker etc she wouldn't be waiting for him to be released.
He's done his time so i have no problem him playing football again Shame normal work places dont give people second chances Not the players fault the club are giving him a second chance
Hmm not sure thats necessarily fair on her. I must admit I dont understand it but then again I dont understand women and how their minds work. There are plenty of cases of women standing by their man when they do things that are very wrong and money isnt by any means the only factor. I think he is very lucky to have her myself - I think he is fair game to have a go at but not sure having a go at her for sticking up for him and saying its only for the money is necessarily fair - you have no idea if thats the real reason and in fact I would be surprised if it was.
So if the woman raped by Evans was your daughter would you still believe he deserves a second chance? Forgiveness is easier when the situation doesn't affect you personally.
There is no wrong or right answer. Its all about opinions. The guy as done his time so what else you want , Why do you think there is so much re-offending in this country . Its because employers will not employ people with past convictions , so therefore they revert back to crime .
Exactly, I don't know if the woman he raped was from Sheffield but I keep thinking of this story I saw the other day: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ophile-abused-13-moved-road-leaving-jail.html I know it's the Daily Fail but the point still stands.
Its not really a comparable situation though is it - and I think the woman he raped was welsh - has been relocated and given a new name (due to abuse after being named but thats a different debate) I really really dont want to be seen in any way as a defender of Ched Evans and think what he did was a digusting crime but really what would you suggest we do with him. As far as I can see he has been given a sentance which the state thinks is appropriate for the crime so once he is released what should he do I dont want him to sign for Barnsley - but I dont think he should be banned from football for life - he will have a hard enough time as he presumably is on the sex offenders register, wont be allowed contact with Children on his own and everyone will know all about him. Being realistic what would you suggest - capital punishment or life imprisonment - if you think he can be released after a time he has to be able to work - he is a professional footballer and a good one so I really cant see how he can be banned from that
He can get a normal job like other people. He shouldn't be in a job where he is a role model to young children. I'm not saying no-one should employ him but football is not a sensible idea. He'll be around children when they are mascots, he'll be around young lads trying to break through into the first team, what if a RNL type (young first team player) signs for Sheffield, is he going to have to vacate the dressing room if there's only them in there? If it was a teacher/nurse etc. would you be saying 'he is a professional teacher/nurse and a good one so I really cant see how he can be banned from that'?
i agree But he's done the time he was given so what do you want to do with realistically. The authorities thought the jail time given was adequate so he's a free man
I've answered this question above. I think he should be able to get a job that isn't one where he would be a role model to children. I'm not in any way saying that he shouldn't be employable but there's many jobs that wouldn't be advisable for him anymore and I think footballer is one of them for the reasons I posted above.
Bit different to be fair - Teachers and Nurses have vulnerable people in their care Professional footballers are just entertainers. He should have restrictions still in place which keeps him from being left with vulnerable people though in actual fact I very much doubt he is a danger to anyone.
Sadly I don't think it is possible to ban him from football, not without a change in the law but it is possible albeit unlikely, for football as an industry to turn its back on the likes of Evans, King, Hughes, et al. They are in a very privileged position and when they commit these most serious of crimes they should have that privilege removed and be made to earn a living amongst ordinary folk in the real world. Football is morally bankrupt but it should be forced to take a step back and take a long hard look at itself and its image - expelling the likes of Evans is a step in the right direction.
