Good move for Jacob looking forward to catching him in a few games this season now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
As I said on here http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showth...ted-talent/page3&highlight=table+Championship Lower Championship standard at best. League One beckons for him next year.
If ever you're fancying going, give us a bell on here and I'll try get you a free ticket. Or meet up for a beer or summat. No bother.
Nonsense. He's a top player, top end championship without a doubt. Capable of lower level prem. Financially it was clearly the right move, anyone would have gone to the prem on such a contract. Long term football wise I suspect it was a bad move and suspect he would be playing in the prem now had he stayed at BFF and had a consistent run of games.
Relegation release clause says he won't be. Look, in all seriousness, he's towed since leaving us to capture the form that propelled him into the spotlight. The first season at Norwich (including the loans) was a write off, trying to find fitness etc after the injury. The Boro move made a lot of sense though, and he was doing ok there until Mowbray was sacked. Once Karanka took over he was no longer a nailed on starter. But he ended last season in the side, they won 6 of their last 8 games and he scored a beauty against Brum and the winner away at Burnley. He also bossed us and our midfield the day we were relegated. But the manager felt Clayton offered more and so they've swapped clubs. We can only see how he gets on at his latest club. But I'm just hopeful he can finally settle down, play regular football and get back to his best. And that's it really. I've only ever defended his reasons for moving. I have never suggested he's going to rip up the top flight and captain England. I think he's a good Championship midfielder. Up to him to keep on proving it.
This is the thing. I fear they're going to expect a lot from him very quickly. He's not a striker or flying winger, they might be disappointed initially. And reading their forum that place makes this place look timid/tame.
Good luck to him. Always enjoyed watching him, very easy on the eye when he has the ball. At least it wasn't Rochdale or Bury he ended up at.
No I don't go to watch them. Thought about it on a few occasions to sit in the away end when hardly anyone would be there. Came close when Colchester were there on a tuesday night in the Paul Reid days. They like signing players who did well at us and like you say the defence isn't great so maybe Shackell will end up there, or more likely Tom Kennedy when he shines for Keef.
Bit gutted about Butterfield, I had high hopes for him when he left us. Don't get me wrong I never thought he was going to end up in the top half of the premiership but I at least hoped he'd stay at a yo-yo club between the prem & championship. Although I'd imagine he's on a lot better money I feel he's back where he started in been at a bottom half championship team who will struggle to achieve much more than mid-table obscurity. Hope he does well there
