He spoke about James bree and that he doesn't want to burn him out by playing too many games early on

Surely at 16 year old he should be wanting as many games as possible especially with the way he played

I'm not been sarcastic I just don't understand what he means by this

Only thing i can think of is that he needs time to mature a bit and bulk up. If not that then i dont know what hes talking about

It's a good point but I think at 16 the lad will still be growing and developing. Important to let the muscles have enough time to rest otherwise long term damage may cut short his career or short term slow his development.

I think it's a diplomatic way of saying that he's not ready to play consistently. No disgrace there though, he's young and will make plenty of mistakes. But to continually play him irrespective of poor games probably won't aid him in the long run.

Think its pretty simple. The club think they've done significant damage to the progress of RNL and Digby by exposing them to first team football too soon. They don't want to make the same mistake with Bree.

There are other examples too, Norman Whiteside for instance. Like Michael Owen, sensational as a teenager, but he retired from playing at the age of 26. Owen was just about done by his mid-twenties too. He carried on, but to very little effect. Rooney is as tough as old boots, but even he looks a shadow of the player he was as a teenager. Having said that, Ryan Giggs performed well for a very long period without suffering injury problems, so it can be done, but all too often teenage sensations do seem to burn out.

    Didn't hurt John Stones.

I expect him to be involved a lot, based on what Danny said today.

Can there be a more demanding role than wing back though

Michael Owen's written a lot about this. Also sighting an interesting stat about Giggs and how many games they'd played relatively to each other at the same age. Owen played far more and arguably suffered.

Maybe not. But maybe he'll play in midfield, right back etc. I don't expect him to feature every week, but I think he's going to be involved a lot more than I'd anticipated. He turned down Man Utd last year. Must have summat about him.

RNL and Digby destroyed by the pillock who claimed to have a track record of developing young players.

Damaged, yes. Destroyed? We'll see. I hope the fans play their part in rebuilding em. It does help.

RNL hasn't come close to replicating the form he showed under Robins at the end of the 2010/11 season.

Digby played really well in a night match last season when he came on as sub. Can't remember which game it was but I still have hopes for him.
