Can anyone help on this problem please

I am trying to change my address with a company and they require proof of my old address.

I dont have bank statements sent (they are sent electronic) and i lived with parents so i dont have any utility bills with my old address on.

I only have a mobile phone bill with my old address on but they wont accept this as a utility bill.

I have to wait 14 days for a copy statement to be sent out in the post - anyone recommend what else i could use.

My driving licence is now in my new address so thats not good either.

I always thought mobile phone bills would be a good way of proving your address ?

 

Are you not named on something like the Council Tax Bill? Passport?

Most places accept mobile phone bills in my experience.

 

You should be able to download pdf statements from your online banking. Just print them off.

If you're trying to change your address with the company then surely they already have your old address? Or am I missing summat? If they want proof of identity so that they know you are who you say you are then a passport or driving license will do. Why would they want proof of your old address, surley it's the new one that is more important?

 

If all else fails get a copy of the electoral roll.

Phone bill statements are proof - this company is being a dick.

 

Credit check? All companies tend to ask for a previous address if you've lived at the current one for less than five years. Odd that it's a company he's already with though. Usually only happens with a new company you're doing business with.

 

This is a company who owe me a large amount of money - (Betting Site) And i never changed my address with them when i moved. And now they want proof of my old address to change it to the new one. They are taking the piss because they dont want to part with the money

 

Have you not got a P45 or a P60 or an NHS card or a letter from an employer or education institution or a credit card bill or an end of year annual interest summary from your bank or a car insurance document or a letter from the job centre?

 

I Have got alot of those documents but most are now in my new address or not within the last 3 months

It doesn't need to be in the last 3 months if you're proving your old address. You just need to prove you lived there, not that you lived there in the last 3 months. The fact that you have moved house means there's a very good chance that you didn't live at your old address in the last 3 months. The 3 months thing is just for your present address.

 

I've always struggled with the proof of address thing - even current as all bills etc. are in partner's name and/or electronic. A betting site wouldn't pay out to me at first as my paypal name didn't match with the name I signed up with (having just got married). They wanted so much proof that I didn't have that I ended up setting up a new paypal in my old name just so I could withdraw it with that. Can you just tell them never mind, you've moved back to your old address so you don't need to update it now, get your money and then change it afterwards or **** them off for somewhere new once you've got your money?

Failing that, phone up your bank or another company and change your address back to your old one with them (it'l be a lot easier than with this betting site) and ask them to send you a letter out which should be faster than 14 days, send that to the betting site and once you've got your money apologise to whichever company it was you phoned and say you need to change it back. The bank sent me a letter first class and I got it the next day when I needed proof of address with my new name for work

I don't understand why they'd need proof of address within the last 3 months though, how does that show that you've recently moved? Surely it would prove the opposite? Are you sure they don't want something with your old address and something with your new within 3 months?
