I had Brook to win. Porter getting away with too much by the ref like going in with his head so often. Brook looked pretty clean at the end whilst Porter was having more work on his cut. Said it all that the champions home fans were leaving in droves before the points decision. They knew what was coming and no amount of American biased could make them see the outcome they wanted. Still we had Jim Watt ruining another fight commentary. About time Sky put us out of our misery and got rid of him.
Someone has to After every big fight on Sky his name trends on Twitter from fans getting in touch with Sky telling them to get shut of him. You wouldn't believe he was British because he always seems to be against our fighters. Brook landed by far the more clean shots. Porter's plan seemed to be swing as much as possible gung ho style and he tired from it. Watt moaning about the 117-111 decision. Nick Halling on the otherhand i've been a big fan of since his days on Sky for the NFL. Although on that Cecil Martin isn't a bad replacement to work with Kevin Cadle.
Jim talks crap and like u said always seems to favour the opposition but I would miss him if he wasn't there because he winds everyone up.I would like to hear more from mallignaggi on the commentary team
Good performance from him. He did the cleaner work all the way through. Porter resembled a windmill for much of the fight. I was surprised nonetheless that the American judges scored it the way they did, especially after Paris scored it even.
I doubt many will agree with me, but I didn't score that in favour of Brook. Brook did land the cleaner work, but there wasn't much of it until rounds 8-12. Porter's style was ugly, but he won five of the first seven rounds, possibly seven of the first ten rounds. Funny that the only judge who scored it realistically was the English judge David Parris, and he had it 114-114. For me Brook's lack of combinations in the first eight rounds had him behind. Whenever he tried to throw 'punches in bunches' he was successful, just didn't do that often enough. As a side note. Sky Sports can do one for their terrible scheduling. That was probably the best performance by Jim Watt in years as he called it as it was. And I didn't take kindly to the Sky commentary team saying the scores were wide but who cares - we always do when it goes against us!
I honestly couldn't separate them over the 12 rounds. The scoring shocked me. But, the commentators were saying that American judges would like the aggressive style of Porter, but to me it wasn't aggressive, more spoiling. He was just moving forward swinging. Didnt land much cleanly other than some early body shots. And he should have had the ref in his ear about the way he was using his head too. All credit to Brook though IMO. Tough opponent, difficult for him to get in the fight against that style, but he kept at it and was the better boxer in the later rounds. Before the fight I was sceptical on whether he could mix at that level, he's proved he can. Hope he fights Khan next. I love a domestic fight.
I didn't expect him to win at all in the States, let alone by such a wide margin. The draw was about right imho. All that said well done to the lad. I'm even prepared to forgive him for being a Blunt (for now, that is!)
Yeah he deserves alot of credit going over there and winning. Especially as Porter was boxing at times like a World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler who thought Summerslam had come a day early, even though it was the same state.
agree with most of what's said here. i had it about even. 1 point either way at most. expected it to go to porter because of the home advantage, but didn't think there was anything in it. but 117-11 and 116-112...i don't know what fight they were watching! well done kell. kept his cool, gradually worked his way back into the fight and nicked it in his own back yard. also thought amir khan was comical, with some of his comments pre & post fight. like kell said - he needs to join the queue now
You are right, I dont agree with you. I have just watched the fight . I had Porter ahead after 6 rounds , but only by 1. After that Brook hit much more cleanly and could hardly miss with the jab! I had Brook 115-113 But that is one of the things I like about boxing, how people see things so differently
Not really, If Porter had won Brook wouldnt be getting a rematch. I also would not give Khan a fight for a while either, big headed ****. ake him wait, he would not fight Brook before, so make the fecker wait in line now !!
sounds like hell actually wants to khan fight. not such a surprise though, to be fair. no love lost between the two and kell obviously wants to spank his arse in front of 90,000 at wembley.
I think I may have got the wrong person. <img src ="http://i2.cdnds.net/14/06/618x886/showbiz-kelly-brook-valentines-range-01.jpg">
