FAO Mrs BigLil: i'm a very bad man, and these deeply sexist comments are in no way associated with the thoughts of Mr Big Lil

Ah, but you having it 115-113 is agreeing with me? So you're wrong ....... ;)

It was definitely no wider than that, but you could have flipped a coin from Parris' score of 114-114 either way so Brook winning is no travesty or injustice.

Not sure about Porter being one ahead after six rounds though, Brook really wasn't in the fight for the first half. Took him to school the last four rounds.

    Agree with all of this.

I was leaning towards Porter just because we didn't know if Brook could mix it at such a high level.

What this does prove though is just how few legitimate opponents are out there for Floyd Mayweather. He would have torn Porter a new arsehole on that performance last night, yet he was next in line if you believed some of the hype.

Thing is, as each round is scored separately, you could have a close fight with a 120-112 score. All it takes is one fighter to narrowly edge out the other each round. A fighter can narrowly edge a round and win it 10-9 or he could knock seven shades out of his opponent and still win it 10-9.

I didn't think Brook had done enough to win it though, although I wouldn't want to watch a Porter fight again in a hurry. He'd be better off moving to wrestling. When the scores were read out I was disappointed that Brook had lost by such a wide margin and nearly fell off my chair when he got the nod. The Americans know what kind of fighter sells tickets though and nobody wants to watch somebody like Porter, in much the same way that Andre Ward, as technically good as he is, is rarely in an interesting fight. I don't mind fighters who want to get up close, but Porter wasn't doing much that you could call boxing in the process. I. The second half of the fight he more resembled something you might have seen in the school playground.

I was a touch disappointed that Brook didn't handle him a bit better though. As Loko mentioned above, he was throwing too many single punches, but he was missing too often in the early stages of the fight, which just opened him up to getting brawled.

Very surprised some of you thought Porter won. I had Brook 117-111. Showtime who showed it in the States did too.

The reactions at the final bell said it all, Porter was a well beaten man, he knew he'd lost his belt.

Nearly all the boxing journo's & fellow fighters on twitter had him a comfortable winner as well.

Once Porter realised that Brook could buzz him his tactics were just to stick his head in to Brook's chest & swing wild shots but he was landing nothing of note.

Jim Watt's a nice bloke but he should've been moved on years ago after the Haye - Valuev disgrace.

Chuffed for Brook, nice lad who's gone through some tough times through injury & **** promotion in the past.

Massive fights now, I'd back him to beat anyone at welter outside of Mayweather, Bradley & possibly Thurman and that includes Pacquaio who's been on a steady decline for a while

Did you not see his last fight ?Against Bradley ?
I think Brook beats Bradley fairly easy to be honest. Thurman ia 50/50 fight and he will batter Khan, even though I like Khan as a fighter , I cant stand his arrogance,

I completely agree about Khan, Brook would stop him.

It's a styles thing. Brook's got great timing & I'd give him a good chance against Pacquaio as Manny doesn't have a good defence & is there to be hit. Bradley lacked the punch power to slow Pacquaio down which Brook has.

Bradley's a good boxer who can adapt, I'd probably make that a 55-45 in favour of Bradley but at the same time I'm not convinced he's the same fighter as before he fought Provodnikov so maybe Brook could pull it off.

I've not seen enough of Thurman to judge a fight between them that's why I wouldn't make a pick either way yet.

Really want the Khan fight next. When Kell wins that he'll be a superstar.
