Two minutes went up on the board at the end of the first half and I don't recall seeing anything that might extend that further, yet Lita scored at the end of the THIRD minute of extra time. I think that is what the Coventry fans were booing about as they went off at the end of that first half. We would have been doing the same. On the other hand, if he saw something that Coventry were doing that warranted another minute then good for him. I thought the ref made some poor decisions - nothing new there. Jim O'Brien really clattered one of ours right into the advertising hoardings in the first half and didn't even get spoken to. He literally launched himself and caught our lad in mid air. Maybe it was an accident, maybe not. He had a pretty good game and his free kicks were dangerous all through. Not as dangerous as Hourihane's though! He hit it from the left hand side and bent it right round the wall and into the top corner. If that had been a World Cup goal the commentators would have been drooling over it. I thought our midfield looked a bit weak overall, with Berry, Bailey and Treacy not really up to speed. Maybe Berry will be out on Saturday (probably will I reckon) but he is a promising player, no doubt. Treacy will come good and with him and Jennings on opposite flanks we could terrorise defences. That is, of course, if we choose to play the ball around these giant defenders that we should be seeing plenty of this season. Lobbing the ball up in the air for our non-existent "big lad" is a waste of time and is so frustrating. Same goes for Davies constantly hoofing it in the air. Be interesting to see how many of his kicks that actually stayed on the park actually found a red shirt. My guess - zero? He made a couple of good saves so fair play to him, but I am looking forward to seeing Turnbull playing there. Like most other people I thought Cole was a real threat when he came on. Give him a bit longer on Saturday and we could see something special. Every team needs a player that can outpace defenders and he looks like that man. What he does when he gets the ball is another matter. He's a raw talent so lets hope he gets some time to blossom. We could have a special player if so. Then we have the enigma of Super Sammy Winnall! Is this lad ever going to score? I think he will and once he does he will get plenty, but the waiting is painful to watch. As on Saturday he had an early good chance and he really ought to have buried that one into the corner. But let's have patience. He didn't get 23 last season because he cant't score did he? Patience is the keyword for all of them I think. Once they gel into a proper unit we will see more good performances than bad ones. The support last night was outstanding for a Tuesday night 100 miles down the M1. Bizarre that people were allowed to stand and sit in the gangways though. Why didn't the stewards lead the excesss out and put them into the end of that big, half empty west stand. It was inevitable that people would just sit where they felt like and there is nothing we can do about that. I got a seat, plenty didn't. Not good stewarding that. They took the easy option - ignore it, it will be ok. There was no trouble though so alright in the end I suppose. Looking forward to Peter Taylor's lot on Saturday. Good record against them so I can only see another three points.
when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes it means a minimum of 2 minutes, not precisely 2 minutes. That was explained on MoTD once. Was not trying to be a smartass here , on many an occasion its gone against us. I remember one time at Walsall we were in stoppage time 90 + minutes, and 2-1 up . They got a free kick on the edge of our box and slotted it in,the ref blew for full time as soon as we kicked off again. Gutted was not the word , it felt more like a defeat.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes Yes I know that, but as I said I didn't notice anything going on that warranted the extra minute, like time wasting from Coventry for example. When we got the corner I didn't think there was time to even take it and we didn't seem in too much of a hurry to get on with it. But, somehow, the ball found its way into the box and Lita bundled it in. Just commented on it because it is so unusual for us to benefit from added on time.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes Don't moan about it. It's nice to see us get the rub of the green now and again. It always seems to conspire against us.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes Not sure how you think I am "moaning" about it. Just passing comment, that's all.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes Mike, they scored in extra time I think so the celebrations there would have added more time.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes 43 mins 15 seconds was their goal time but the celebrations probably went on too long, as they always do. Even so, I think we got the right end of a spot of luck for a change
agreed, how many times have we conceded at th "11th" hour as it were good to be the benefactors on this occasion
Good fair report that. And agree with all of it. Think you were sat behind me actually if that's you in your avatar.
Fourth official made a two minutes extra judgement from the first 45 mins. Ref could easily think this is lenient and add one or two more on.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes Refs sometimes signal to fourth official with a couple of minutes of an haif left ,usually when there is a break in play. Owt after that is added on to what he has told the fourth official.
Exactly. Ref tells 4th official how much to stick up on the board. Ref controls how long is actually played.
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes It's possible that the ref had already indicated to the 4th official how much he was going to add on prior to that goal, therefore he added more time on for the goal celebrations.
He's only played 4 games. I'm not sure that even counts as a goal drought. We all want him to score, but I think it's a bit early to ask if he's ever going to score.
It was a tongue in cheek comment. If he can get on the end of some good through balls he'll do the business
Re: when the time goes up e.g. 2 minutes At least I get the assist on that one. It were like a Leroy tap in though Eastie.
